It's hardly our fault if he doesn't get the permit

What else could we have done?

If he doesn't get the permit and turns out to be a great player then the fingers need to be pointed at the authorities and questions need to be asked about their agenda in not letting him play for us
Isn’t this the definition of hindsight?
We bought a player who we knew couldn't get a work permit. We gambled on the fact that he would in the future, but it looks distinctly possible now that he won't. There's no hindsight involved, and it absolutely is our 'fault' if he never gets one. If we sell him for what we paid or more then there's no harm done and it just goes down as a punt that didn't work out. If he ends up draining a wage for a couple of years and then released on a free, it goes down as an embarrassing cockup but not really the end of the world.

But you’re arguing because we can’t sell him. Who said we can’t sell him? Who said we’re trying to sell him?

Pretty damn sure if we want to sell him we’d find a buyer easily.

What? Either you're replying to the wrong person or you can't read. The post you've quoted literally says 'if we sell him...' so on what basis am I saying we can't? I was just picking up on the idea that the possibility of him not getting a work permit somehow relates to hindsight or unfathomable bad luck. It doesn't at all, we knew full well this might happen. We took a chance, it might come off and it might not, simple as that.

Oh my bad you’re not the person saying we can’t sell him. Carry on.

How do you work that one out exactly? For all we knew getting a permit would have been easy because he could have qualified under the "Exceptional Talent" disclaimer. Let's face it, if one of the Top Six had signed him this would have been sorted by now. Should we be forced to not sign promising youngsters from outside the UK just because of our standing in the game? How is that fair?

We've been Jorge Cadete'd here, no doubt in my mind

I work it out because it's what happened. We knew he didn't have a work permit when we signed him, that's why we announced the signing and his loan to Anderlecht at exactly the same time. The talk at the time was also that Arsenal had pulled out because they didn't believe he would get a work permit either, which I appreciate doesn't fit with the tin foil hat everyone's got it in for us RAWKite mentality you're going for, but would appear quite logical.

His situation is just one of those things. End of the day we’ll sell him for more than we paid if it comes to it so why bother getting a sad on about it?

Signed him for £7million. Recieved 2 sets of loan fee's, only paid him about 4-5 weeks wages so far and will sell him for probably double our money with a future sell on fee.

Shame that we probably wont get the chance to see him but we will have turned a profit on him so I dont know how people can complain.
