Hilary Benn Sacked From The Shadow Cabinet - wider political debate

Funny enough, I thought Corbyn had his best day at PMQ's today......before Cameron told him to go.......

This is all a bit surreal now. The Labour party is royally screwed and I blame all of you Corbyn supporters and those that said how wonderful he would be, even though it was the easiest call to see that he would be a shambles.......but then again, any man who can suggest having trident but it having no weapons, or thinking he can lead a political party that refuses to follow him must know something.........

I think the MPs are really starting to lose their bottle on this. If they can't agree a candidate tomorrow I'd be surprised if they get one at all.

This really is the most important reason about why Corbyn has to hang on.

Is there anyone here - peteblue included - who think that a group of people who can't organize a successful coup despite having overwhelming numbers, overwhelming media support and having ruled the party in question themselves for at least thirty years beforehand are people that should be trusted with running the country?

Of course not. That lot in charge of Labour would drive them to bankruptcy. They would be Labours IDS.

If there is another vote Corbyn will win with a bigger majority. Utter humiliation. He has called their bluff.

The fact they are trying to get him to resign shows how little confidence they have in themselves.

Cameron called the referendum, was its most prominent spokesman, decided (with Osborne) what areas it would be fought over, negotiated how the "debates" would look and ran the campaign (Corbyn was clearly detached from it and ran a virtually separate one). He bears the lions share of the blame for its failure.

It was part of the Tory manifesto and was welcomed by the people. There was already dissatisfaction with EU prior to that election. In keeping with pledge the referendum was called by him because he was the Prime Minister. IT could have been anyone in Government if they were the PM at that time. You and Hull are consumed with hatred for DC and cannot see the wider picture. The fact is the vote was called for, as I see it you were in the remain camp and are upset. So time to throw toys out of the pram because it did not go your way but it did for 52% of the people.

Rumour has it that they can't get a candidate who opposed the Iraq War. They are majorly bottling it.

Chilcot comes out next Wednesday, and it looks like Bercow has upheld Corbyn as the leader of the opposition.

They will be filling their collective trousers at the thought of the response he will give to the report (which if its in any way honest is going to slate Blair and his government), which probably explains part of the reason why they have been so desperate to get him to quit quickly. What will make it worse is that the rebels have all just flounced out of the Shadow Cabinet, so they won't have any influence over what he is going to say nor will they be able to do what they did over Syria and sabotage his position - plus of course they have just spent several days attacking him.

"They that show the wind, they shall reap the whirlwind" perhaps sums up what is likely to follow.

Salmond was funny today when he referred to this report and then mentioned it's effect upon Blairs future accommodation.........
