Did I call you a Blairite? I was saying that we're not in a two-party system anymore and winning the centre-ground is not the necessity it used to be.

Also, only appealing to fringes? Are you suggesting the working class isn't worth appealing to?

I'm working class. Corbyn doesn't appeal to me. I live in Kirkby and he wouldn't get a vote off anyone I personally know.

Are you saying I'm in a bubble and somehow nobody else thinks that way?

People look at him and think "there's a threat to our country and jobs". He not only does not attract centrist votes - he doesn't get centre left votes either.

He simply won't win an election off the back of a vocal bunch of Twitterati and hard left union members. Corbyn is unelectable.

they are in the bubble mate

its the left wing equivalent of someone who thinks migration causes all the problems and that 90% of the people in their town are immigrants

they look purely at their own views and the views of their friends

completely insular and they just cant see it sadly

Hear Hear!

Agree Tubey. At least someone is being realistic here.

Bang on

It's crazy that so many people refuse to believe that a scruffy student union politician is unelectable. Labour will almost certainly lose votes to Ukip, Libs Dems and Tories.... He's a crap leader and his politics are too divisive

Of course, there's a sizeable number of these who do know that he doesn't have a dogs change, but would much rather be a protest party than actually get their hands dirty and make the positive change in people's lives that being in power offers compared to a Tory rule, even if it means playing the game a little bit

It's hilarious that they act like a mob and call people 'traitors' and 'red Tories' when Corbyn's whole thing has been about a 'kinder politics' and offering hope...

60,000 new Labour members have joined up in the past week. No doubt more Corbynistas, with time on their hands between festivals now that their Sociology and Media Studies courses are done for the summer.

Meanwhile, nationally Labour can kiss goodbye to millions more votes as their one time core support either defects to UKIP or stays at home come the next GE.

I don't mind how little or how much Corbyn wants to be left wing in his thinking and policy (although little evidence of anything there so far) but whatever views he has should not allow for a complete abdication on leadership and common sense thinking. Or decency when knowing when his time is up. Old Labour and New Labour have deserted the party in their droves, yet Corbyn continues to get his main political feedback from coffee morning events in Islington for Lebanese Lesbian Lecturers or whatever.

Any contender for the Labour leadership can trigger a contest if they gain the support of 20% of MPs and MEPs (229 + 20) so 50 supporters needed. If he does not resign, then Corbyn does not need 20% for himself, he is in the contest by default. But were Corbyn to resign and aim to stand again, he would need 20% to support his nomination and given only 40 MPs voted for him in the non-binding no-confidence vote, it could be difficult for him to reach that number.
Is this why he is so adamantly refusing to resign?

I can't believe anybody would welcome a return of New Labour. How can you be so enthused by something so bland? It's like looking forward to a new Travis album.
Who wants a return to New Labour? Or is anything that isn't Corbyn New Labour now?

I want a good electable leader with good electable policies. Don't think Corbyn is that man.
