Pink?

Yep, an MP who doesn't have the support of her own CLP, or Branch party, came 4th (of 5) in last years deputy leadership election, and was imposed on the constituency in a very dodgy selection under Kinnock.

Sounds quite democratic for the current Labour Party......

Would Corbyn get enough MP's to support him to even allow his name to go into a Labour election......what a mess......

It's not necessary. The rules were changed in 2010 to ensure the leader would be on the ballot.

2. Election of leader and deputy leader

a. The leader and deputy leader shall be elected separately in accordance with rule C below, unless rule E below applies.

b. Nomination i. In the case of a vacancy for leader or deputy leader, each nomination must be supported by 12.5 per cent of the Commons members of the PLP. Nominations not attaining this threshold shall be null and void.

ii. Where there is no vacancy, nominations may be sought by potential challengers each year prior to the annual session of party conference. In this case any nomination must be supported by 20 per cent of the Commons members of the PLP. Nominations not attaining this threshold shall be null and void.

This is amazing - Eagle desperately seeking questions from BBC and ITV, but they'd all left early:

The BBC cut part way through her speech to look at Leadsom's front door for 10 minutes, and referred to Eagle as challenging for the Tory leadership.

It'd be hilarious were it not a time that demands the very best of leadership to try and guide the country through Brexit. There scarcely seems a leader among any of the main parties at the moment.

I said this on here a couple of weeks back. Clearly a major factor in him not choosing to resign is that he would struggle to secure the nomination from 50 of his own MPs and MEPs (229+20 x 20%) should he wish to stand and be re-elected.
