Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

The Oldham affair as you call it was investigated by Merseyside Police who interviewed the fans in the surrounding area as well as viewing enhanced CCTV and the consensus was that the fan shouted you Manc [Poor language removed] at Tom Adeyemi who was playing for a Greater Manchester team.

Now of course it might of been a RS conspiracy and I am sure Davek will want a lifetime ban for the kopite gobshite for doubting someone's parentage but come on can we stop with the half truths and innuendo.

Again I will ask what punishment you think Holgate should get if he is found guilty of homophobic comments ?

Look mate, I couldn't a monkeys what Merseyside police or LFC said happened, the lad was abused and walked off the pitch in tears. They then chanted the song of a convicted racist towards him and hurled abuse at him. He felt racially abused. That matters more for to me than any rat in Anfield or any police officer. I support those who feel racially abused, in line with the recommendations of of the race hate literature. There was also picture evidence of some goon doing a monkey gesture towards him. So don't try and lecture me on codes of behaviour while you reproduce dangerous stereotypes and completely omit evidence to suit your agenda.

It's not a conspiracy, it's called institutional racism, go away and educate yourself on the literature.

As for Holgate, he should be punished I have already said that. Homophobia is bang out of order. Can you explain to me though, why Robertson (who made far more abusive terms than Holgate, who's terms were actually commonplace tv language at the time though still wrong) has not bee charged and Holgate who was a child has? Whats the difference? Other than 1 is black and 1 is white? Or 1 has been subjected to racial abuse and one hasn't? In that context I find your continual reference to it somewhat distressing.

I am old enough to remember the troubles in Ireland that were caused by people spouting similar bile.
Just think for one minute what you have said about Liverpool fans and then think what the reaction would be if you substituted kopite for Black, Jewish, Gay or any other differentiator.
Hahahaha!

Get in the bin you gargantuan wum.

Evertonians have been magnificent over Hillsborough, absolutely magnificent. Any true Liverpool supporter (not some hank who thinks they have to use it as a cudgel against all comers for football related arguments) knows that to be true.

I agree, and the families do too. Thats what matters and in truth all that matters.

Mate the language used initially is misogynstic hate speech. The question you need to answer is why are you questioning someone for stating misogynistic hate speech should not be taken seriously? From a club who have wife beaters on the staff, and won't sack him on the basis of "Mo Salah may do it" according to their friendly journo in the Echo. It's not acceptable and needs to be challenged.

In the Suarez-Evra case Evra admitted using the phrase "la concha de tu hermana".

Evra went unpunished for that phrase. Please google the meaning of that phrase and then explain why Firmino will be punished for using the word 'Puta'

I dont know what that would be, but he is bang to right's on the puta abuse.

I'm 100% backing that Firmino then brought skin colour into it.

I'd say a good result would be an eventual 10 game ban. Four for the Puta abuse.
I speak none of either language but from what I gather, in Portuguese it means "wh*re" and in Spanish, it means b**ch

I'm not going on a wild goose chase regarding what Evra may or may not have said. Are you telling me he has used hate speech? If so then he should be charged with it. What I am telling you is Firmino used misogynistic hate speech and should be punished for it. The FA won't, because it's not taken seriously, which seems to be an position you agree with.

I was at the Oldham game, sat near to the Kop. (Had an FA Cup weekend with my uni mates. Everton on the Sat, Liverpool on the Sun). Regardless of what the police decided he said, the lad was in tears in the pitch. And I would argue that there was more than one fan shouting things, he could have heard it from one of thousands of fans and they may have been behind someone and not seen on cctv etc but they decided that’s what he heard. We don’t know the ins and outs of it. But then the Suarez chants started and it was disgusting. The lad was being jeered and booed. And for what? For being abused in what he thought was a racially based way. No need for any of the abuse whatsoever, it’s out of order. And their fans seemed happy with the whole Suarez situation. It was horrible to be there. I remember tweeting a picture with the quote “if Merseyside police want to find 60000 racists then Just come to Anfield” and I’m normally quite empathetic and understanding of situations, often playing devils advocate, it was really bad.

You want to punish a 12 year old for comments made on Twitter?

LOL

Utter parody you.

He was 15. Still a kid but there’s a big difference between they way a 12 year old and 15 year old are seen in the law and what levels of capacity etc they are considered to have. 15 years old is old enough to understand what you are saying and doing but granted, any punishment shouldnt be as severe as if an adult said it.

Either of them should see him with bans....if the FA are being even handed with the judgements.

If the FA banned players for uttering phrases like that we wouldn't have any fixtures. You hear worse language than that at an under 9's game.

Maybe if they banned people it would stop? Racism was common place in the 80's. People got punished. It stopped. Very easy equation.

Thanks for your testimony mate. We know in spite of what Kopites say, black people don't generally lie about racism, and when they look distressed it is normally for good reason. What I know, was a chant about a convicted racist was aimed at the lad. Why did they choose to sing that at him when he left the pitch?

Isn't the point that we need to get away from the tit for tat nonsense that fuels the divide. If you look at any divide you will always see people who are adamant that it is the other sides fault. All fan bases have their share of idiots, as you say some far more than others.

Of course there are some horrible Liverpool fans but then again we also have fans who follow us who are idiots. Get past the bile and fans tend to have far more in common than we think.

Since you seem to be the expert in what counts as "bile", just wanted to let you know that I don't hate kopites, in fact almost all my mates are reds and I actually like them as people. I couldn't care less who someone supports if they are a decent individual.

But my word I hate Liverpool football club as an institution and the cultish behaviour it encourages. Hope this is OK with you.
