No need to be an arse about it, I mean World Cup winner, have we become West Ham now?

I know my history, I realise he was an excellent player, I know what the holy trinity is, just as somebody who never watched him play LIVE, nor somebody that was around in his time, I dont understand why we hold a player in high regard that jibbed us off for a rival.

I follow my own path, nobody tells me who my idols are.
Unless you idolise yourself?lol

I suppose thats where it comes from, all the male peers in my family either didnt really "follow" football or were kopites, the majority of people always say he was my Dads/Uncles/Grandads idol.
He was My idol, not my dad's or my grandads but Mine.
I can assure you that if you had been lucky enough to see him you would agree that Ross Barley should never even be uttered in the same sentence as Bally.

No disrespect to the three but probably 90% of the city of Liverpool won't even have heard if them players. I started supporting us mid 80s as a kid and even then I wouldn't have been able to name the holy trinity then.We need to drag ourselves into the 21st century, all our legends are from the black and white era. The RS are constantly making new ones.
Legends win trophies. Not too many RS heroes in ther current squad.

He didn’t jib us off mate. It was the other way around, Catterick wasn’t well and sold him, worst piece of business we’ve ever done. I’m sorry you didn’t see him play, those of us who did, like those of us who saw Alex Young, were incredibly lucky. You would have loved him, a real winner who loved scoring against the RS.......

Fairy muff mate.

Holy crap!

I'm horrified and ashamed of some of the posts here. Might as well take the Dixie statue down too, after all I never saw him play so he must be unworthy, right?

They're called the Holy Trinity for a reason. If ya know ya history...

Gobsmacked. Or have I just been suckered by some wummery?

Dixie gave us 12 years, I know what and who Dixie is, I understand why we should worship Dixie.

I suppose it is difficult for some of the younger posters on this board to appreciate just how good that team in the late 60,s was.
Anybody who saw them, and especially Alan Ball, play, would be in no doubt that they had witnessed something very special.
I started going to the match in 1962 and Alan Ball is by far and away the best player I have seen in a Royal blue jersey.

I only started following the Blues in 1976, thanks to my dear departed Dad, who had the pleasure of watching the Holy Trinity on many occasions. He always told me what amazing footballers they were and what a massive part they are of our club's incredible history.
No matter who we signed in my lifetime, they would "never be as good as Bally lad!"
My Dad, like many others, has gone to his grave revering the Holy Trinity.

Only for one reason mate! Alan Ball played every week for Everton, Arsenal & England with players who were as good and in some cases even better than him. Ross Barkley has just spent the last few seasons with utter rubbish at Everton and England players not fit to wear the
shirt. I thought this page was about the Holy Trinity, not for sniping at a player with problems.

I don't dispute their ability but I think it is too far down the line for statues of them now. These are for history books and personal memories. It just shows to the modern day supporter that all we do is look backwards.Where,is our Salah, Gerrard,Suarez etc because that is all the local kids and fans of the future will remember in 10 years time.
Codswallop - the greatest midfield trio in the history of not only Everton but arguably English football period, of course they should be celebrated in statues, history books, murals, whatever it takes.

Exactly. Which was kind of the point of my post.
Not 'sniping' at Barkley by the way, just pointing out that he is not in the same class as Ball, Kendall and Harvey.
It's all about opinions mate. . . . . . . . but mine is right ;)
