Horse Racing

I thought there was sommat strange when he sold Road To Respect and Don Poli, two very good chasers, at the Grand National sale, just two days before the big race and both holding entries.

I think Gordon will be okay in the long run....he got the gig because of his outstanding training ability and as we have seen with Willie Mullins when O’Leary took his horses away, there is life after Gigginstown.

Henry De Bromhead trains a lot of Gigginstown horses as well.

Big blow for Jack Kennedy as well.....he is an excellent young jockey but I have no doubt he will get another big job in time, possibky over here in England.

Sad news indeed.

But at least one good thing should come out of it.....O’Leary will have to let Tiger Roll go for the treble now :)

....very interesting how all of this manifests to next year Spring festivals, as you say it’s not just the horses, it’s multiple trainers and jockeys.

I read a while back he has 450 horses.
The approx training costs is £25k per year for each the article said.

That heavy dosh like..
It's a massive outlay what ever the figure is. He had 2 or 3 yards solely for point to points and young horses they will take the hit the hardest and it affects them straight away more or less .
Big sales In goffs In June will tell a tale

To be honest, keeping a huge string of National Horses makes no business sense at all, given they are probably 90% geldings ergo there is no stud value going forward.

JP does it for love of the game but I would say he has a much higher net worth than Mike O’Leary plus JP’s racing probably pays for itself due to his Coolmore investment.

When you think about it, Gigginstown as a concept has defied financial gravity for over a decade.

O Leary is worth 860 million according to the rich list so hes not stuck for a few Bob
But its not a hobby to be making money out of.

Can anybody answer this betting question for me...

I placed a £1 yankee, which of course totals £11. But what happens if one of the selections is voided. What does the bet become?

Is it now just a £1 treble and I get an £8 refund?

No refund.....the bet still stands, but in a different form.

Assuming the other three win, this is what your bet becomes.

You still have eleven bets running.

You will have three doubles up, perming the three that actually ran and won.

You will also have three single bets up....one each on those three winners.

That covers the six doubles aspect.

One normal treble up....the three winners.

And a further three doubles, the same perm as in the other leg.

And finally another treble, this being the leg which would have been your quad.

Hope this helps :)
