I might buy Neal Maupay for the Sunday vets team I play for.Put your winnings in the suggestion box towards a striker.
I would guarantee you them protesters were wearing make up made from animal products, cotton clothing made from sheep’s wool, shoes and belts made from cow’s leather. They don’t give a toss about animals, why weren’t they protesting at Cheltenham last month or the Irish National last week or Crufts or any other animal led sporting events?
I think when horses keep getting killed in a race then something isn't right...
Never known an animal living like royalty dieing in agony from racing, you wouldnt put your pet dog through it….more horses die running around their fields than on race courses. More die in their stable than on racecourses. Horses die running on the flat.
My grandfather was a blacksmith for the Council in Liverpool after the 2ndWW when horses were more commonplace than cars. Horses dying in streets was as regular an occurrence as horses dying on farms.
Horses the run in National Hunt races live a life of luxury, they are adored by connections who own and look after them. They are treated like pets. They are bred to run, they are herd animals. Nobody feels their loss as much as connections and as much as those of us who connect with them.
Horses will die racing but more sadly they are treated better than many human beings in our modern society. Concentrate on children living in poverty, not animals living like royalty.
They probably are treated amazingly but you have to agree that wasn't nice to watch before and things could be done to reduce the risk.….more horses die running around their fields than on race courses. More die in their stable than on racecourses. Horses die running on the flat.

I understand what you mean about nobody will be complaining about other racecourses but this race is extremely different to any of those. I agree loose horses are an issue so surely having less in the race would help.…yep, I think one horse lost his life in the big race which is one too many. I agree, it’s dreadful to see them falling like they did today. Sadly, the problems are caused by loose horses who carry on running and jumping without their jockey because that’s what they do.
The focus is always on Aintree who have modified the fences so the risk is nowhere near what it used to be. There will be nobody complaining at Bangor on Dee on a Monday or Exeter on a Wednesday.

Not saying this race should go but surely reducing the field slightly and having the start shortened to the first fence can only be a good thing. Couldn't watch another one like that.….because of the modifications it’s a truly high class race these days. It’s nothing like in years gone by where anything could run for a day out. These animals are top drawer.
Sure, the field could be reduced but you can have tragedies in a two runner race. Dark Raven sadly died in an earlier hurdle race.
I’d be more fearful for the welfare of these horses if there was no horse racing. They are a difficult animal to manage.
If there wasn't racing them horses would not have been born at all.As true as that may or may not be it does not detract from the santimonious 'Won't someone think of our horses' brigade who then send their beloved horses out over 30 whip-fuelled fences of head planting, neck snapping mayhem to stroke their egos and enrich bookmakers, alcohol producers and other members of their industry.
But yes, they're all animal lovers at heart.
