Horse Racing

Do you know which trainer the horse has gone too?

….I’m hearing Paul Nicholls. I notice he’s now generally available at 25-1 for the Champion Bumper, so that performance hasn’t gone unnoticed (apparently 16 secs faster than anything else on the day) and some have been busy requesting a price.

Nicholls had Captain Teague placed in this years Bumper (who looked decent on his hurdling debut last week) but I’ll wait and see what plans are before getting involved. I suppose 25-1 with cash-out is a way to play.

Saturday at the Breeders cup

Inspiral 5/2 - beat Big Rock 1.5 length good/soft when ground probably favoured Big Rock, latter won QE ii heavy by 6l so is the stand out bet for me should be sounder surface and a good draw

Elite power 6/4 - won at the BC last year, winning machine although got beat last time but hopefully that was just a prep run to get fitness up and be all guns blazing on Saturday in the sprint

2 singles and a double

Also done Tamara 7/4 in juvenile fillies on Friday this probably harder to get winner as most having just had one or 2 starts but done easily enough by 6l in latter 2/2

If fancy anything else will put it up

Get in there!!! Inspiral flies home for Frankie.

….one of the great rides ever from William Buick on Master of the Seas. From a wide draw, coming from last to first coming around the top bend to get up on the line was pure genius.

One Breeders Cup bet for me, Master of the Seas ante-post @ 20-1 to small stakes. How Buick got that home I’ll never know but it pays for a few more Cheltenham bets.

Hopefully you took my advice, what a night, sorry about yesterday and Tamara

Vauban 5/2 - Melbourne Cup 04.00 Tuesday morning

….hope your not putting the voodoo on him. I wouldn’t back him at that price but I have an interest at 14-1. It’s obviously a very difficult race to win even for Willie Mullins.

Difficult to see him running over hurdles this season given his impressive flat campaign.

What a shame that was about An Tobar. I had him in a few antepost bets following you Eggs.

How, or probably where is the correct question, do you put a bet on for it to win this weekend and any race at Cheltenham? Is it a 'request a bet' type thing?

…and @Caso01 looking like An Tobar makes his bow tomorrow (2.13 Fairyhouse). Hasn’t run for best part of 2 years and coming back after injury, it’s a leap of faith to think he’ll be the horse I’d heard about from his PtP but he’s opened odds-on favourite tomorrow, so there must be a bit of confidence.

Hills offer ‘win tomorrow’ (in Hills ‘specials’);
& any race at the Festival 25-1; Supreme 50-1; Ballymore 40-1; Bartlett 50-1

Be fantastic if he hosed up. General thought is, he’d most likely be a Ballymore horse but it’s all guesswork. A couple of quid on him to win tomorrow and ‘any race’ in March gives a bit of insurance, otherwise just watch him and see how he goes.

I’d say ballymore myself as well.
Had him at 33-1 for last years ballymore.
Think it was around 10-1 when it got injured.
I believe an injury early an a horses career shouldn’t curtail its progress too much and easier to overcome rather than injury mid career.
Could also be a blessing in disguise as I don’t see anything in this years ballymore field as good as impaire et passé last years winner.

Here’s hoping

@Eggs - what’s the path to the ‘specials’ please, I can’t find them. Cheers

….sorry, Matey, just picking this up.

if you have a Hills account, click on horse racing and in the list on the left you will see ‘specials’. You should then see a ‘win today’ option but I’m noticing it’s not there this morning for some reason.

Perhaps the meeting is in doubt or they’re adjusting market (the An Tobar any race price did come in from 20-1 from 25-1 last night).

Hopefully the racing takes place. One thing I would note with An Tobar is he’ll be a 7yo next Spring and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise for HdB to give him a spin over hurdles before sending him chasing. He could easily blow out today, I wouldn’t be going mad on him but fingers crossed the ability is still there.

Note; I’m hearing Mullins has an exciting 4yo they are already calling the ‘next Annie Power’. This time next year she could be all the rage for the Mares Novice Hurdle. She is expected to run in a bumper next month, if I hear she might be Champion Bumper bound, I’ll give you all a heads-up.

Biked into town after work to get my dad birthday card and bottle of whisky. Nipped into bookies to use pen to write in card. Done a quick lucky 15 at Hereford.
Just checked it.
Pulled up, sixth out of seven, non runner and fourth out of ten.
Won’t be doing that again anytime soon.

Give the losing slip to your dad as part of his present.
