How stupid are Manu?

Lampard would be my guess as well. Giggs had a nasty/niggley injury for a few seasons I recall, and being a winger wouldnt help. Gerrard wouldnt surprise me, but if he did hold the record, I am pretty sure it would have been mentioned these last few weeks!

Lampard did score 10 + goals in 10 consecutive seasons in the premier league. Not even Alan Shearer managed it (was injured for most of the 97/98 season). You're right though. At first glance you don't appreciate that kind of stat. That really is some achievement.

That avatar looks ace on you mate. By the time the season starts, you'll weird without Dancing Daniel.

An Ode to Phil Jones
But there's every reason to think that Jones will get through this sticky patch and blossom into the self-assured Victorian strongman he has always promised to become. He is still, crucially, young – and besides, maybe everyone has been a little hysterical in their desire to cast him as a gurning lunk. Earlier this month, something called the CIES Football Observatory in Switzerland ranked Jones the best centre back in Europe who was under the age of 23 and who had played in at least 50 percent of their side's games. They must have felt like you do when you spend ages filling-out one of those "What's your political compass?" questionnaires, and it comes back saying you're basically Josef Goebbels

FYI, you can probably stop reading that now. The linked article rates Phil Jones not only as better than John Stones, but also a pair of guys sometimes called Paul Pogba and Neymar.

Some Argentine media, such as La Nacion, have even reported that there is considerable irritation among Martino's staff at how Louis van Gaal has treated Di Maria, and with the limited way in which he has been used. They reportedly believe the United boss has "ruined" the record signing, and taken away "his football rhythm". It is also alleged by La Nacion that Di Maria barely has a relationship with Van Gaal, and would favour a move away from Old Trafford this summer -- preferably to Barcelona or Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich, and Manchester City have even been mentioned.

If that is true, Di Maria's upturn in performance may not mean all that much to United, given that he will be returning to a different football system and environment. Part of his return to form has been that he is not in such a constricted role. Di Maria has been allowed to run into space again in a way that is so rarely seen at Old Trafford, as he has gradually realised the requirements of Martino's role.

Of course, his drop-off was not all down to Van Gaal either. Di Maria has often looked disinterested himself, but as is often overlooked in such cases, there's also the reality that Di Maria is a young man adjusting to a totally different culture and climate. That takes time, and will inevitably affect a player's mood before his football, even without something as traumatic as the break-in he endured in February.

Back in the national team environment in which he is so comfortable, Di Maria has clearly recovered his confidence. He is enjoying himself again, sharing many jokes with Messi and Ever Banega. He was also conspicuously excitable and full of life when speaking to ESPN FC and other media in the mixed zone after the Paraguay game. He was back in the groove, as he pretty much admitted when talking about the change in his form and his first goals of the Copa. "I kept doing things well for the team, working physically, working defensively but missing something in attack," Di Maria said. "I'm happy because things came off well today, especially before the final."

Probably rubbish like most conspiracy theories but slightly strange Utd haven't signed anyone since Depay
http://www.joe.co.uk/sport/manchester-united-and-the-nikeadidas-conspiracy/7003

As Manchester United fans grow increasingly restless at the lack of transfer activity of late, Twitter has its own suspicions.
Social media is abuzz with the theory that new signings are being delayed not by complex negotiations or strategic bargaining, but instead by a multi-million pound kit deal. United have a month of their Nike deal to run. From August 1, a new 10-year agreement with Adidas kicks in. It's worth £750m, and the Germans want bang for their buck.

Any deal prior to the end of July will require new signings to be parading in public draped and surrounded by the Nike swoosh, as was the case when Memphis Depay was signed. Twitterers have speculated as to whether transfers are embargoed until the beginning of next month when shiny new recruits will be emblazoned with Adidas branding.

It would mean that new signings would start their Old Trafford careers without a full pre-season behind them, and they'd miss a large chunk of the club's US tour. It would also mean that any deals that weren't officially signed, sealed and delivered could be gazumped by stealth rivals.

Kind of see where might be coming from. But 2 players signed in a Nike shirt, versus 10 years worth of signings, plus the Depay signing, makes me think that is actually bobbins.

Probably is but LVG apparently made a big deal out of the fact that last summer they didn't get in their targets early and he blamed some of their poor start on the fact he was still trying to integrate the players without a proper preseason.

Yet at least so far they seem to be doing the same thing...

True. Perhaps the prices they are being asked are a bit toppish, after the way they sprayed cash around last year? Dunno though. Obv.
