@johncrossmirror: Ed Woodward helped negotiate a great deal for Sergio Ramos. Sadly it was for his new contract at Real Madrid.

Manchester United target Sergio Ramos has finally agreed a new contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2020 and could net him as much as €10million-a-year (£7m), according to reports in the Spanish media.

Madrid-based paper Marca claim that the new deal, agreed following crunch talks with president Florentino Perez in China this week, will be officially announced before the start of the new season.

The €8.5m (£6m) net-a-year plus another €1.5m (£1m) in bonuses is less than the offer that was made by the Old Trafford club, who had been chasing the Spain international since the start of the summer.

Louis van Gaal has asked Manchester United’s board to sanction David de Gea’s departure to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. The goalkeeper has been linked heavily with a move to the La Liga club throughout the summer transfer window and the AS newspaper says that Van Gaal has tired of what has become a drawn-out saga, requesting that De Gea is moved on at the earliest opportunity.

The U-turn over De Gea – who has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford – is reported to have come after the 25-year-old performed poorly in a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, being involved in a mix-up with Phil Jones and Luke Shaw that resulted in the French side’s opening goal and subsequently being substituted at half-time.

In stature or how good we currently are? In Stature it could be argued we're number 1. However in terms of how good we are - PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal, City all currently superior. Those mentioned teams Rooney wouldn't start in. Those are our rivals or supposed to be.
You posted this in the Rooney Villa Real match thread but more appropriate to talk about it here.

Given the transfer money you've spent over the past couple of windows, your commercial income and how good your academy used to be that suggests you think has been some gross mismanagement. It is only two years ago you won the league after all.

Tbh this all seems very petty and childish.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-United-exit-kit-moved-U21-dressing-room.html

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been left in no doubt that his future lies away from Old Trafford. Although Real Madrid are expected to make another concerted effort to sign David de Gea this week, Valdes remains set on leaving too.

His place at the club was underlined on Sunday when he returned to Carrington to find that his kit had been moved to the Under 21s' dressing-room area and he was told he was no longer with the first-team squad.
Valdes trained alone on Monday and even ate lunch by himself, remaining courteous to staff. It's understood that he wants to stay in the Premier League.

The move is understood to have upset his Spanish-speaking team-mates, who believe the action is disrespectful to the vastly experienced 33-year-old who won three Champions League titles with Barcelona.
Valdes is popular among his team-mates but United manager Louis van Gaal left the keeper off their tour to USA after criticising his attitude and saying he had refused to play for the Under 21s.
Valdes countered by posting a pictures of himself with the Under 21s on Twitter, adding the hashtag '#respect'

That last paragraph is useless and lazy journalism. So De Gea doesn't want to sign a new contract but LVG thought he could convince him otherwise? Ok, that's an interesting story.

Angel Di Maria at the PSG unveiling

Angel di Maria: "Every time I join a new club, I give my all. I will do that here. l'll bring my maximum. Thank you PSG for signing me."

He must be cutting his final 6 months at United out of his memory.
