Seems to be an official stance they have with their away tickets.

Take away the fact that he has travelled with them for 30 years, but managing the demand for what are probably the most in demand away tickets in the world, they have to have a strict policy I guess.

It mist be so they dont have.empty seats in the ground...still, very harsh for the poor bloke after 30 years.

Theyve turned into liverpool.

Theyve turned into liverpool.

Not sure anyone would notice one empty seat. More to do with managing the tickets so they know who has them. Then also being able to pass on returns to a waiting list, which must be long.

Like I said, their aways must be the most in demand tickets in World football. You just cant lose control of who you are selling them to.

Harsh, but sensible.

And on top of that, theres some other guy who went to Hull with a ticket and wasn't allowed in!
Could be just for the 16/17 season, i.e. May, harsher still to make it 12 calendar months. And I'm guessing when he can reapply he'll be back to square one with no away stubs/points from this season

Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge began with hugs and ended in humiliation.

After enjoying an emotional embrace with his former Chelsea captain John Terry, Mourinho's Manchester United team were swamped by goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante.

He was then involved in an unedifying touchline spat with Antonio Conte, who had been urging Chelsea fans to recognise his team's dominant performance.

The Italian gestures to Chelsea fans after watching the Blues dominated against United

Italian TV reported Mourinho angrily said to his rival at the final whistle: 'You don't celebrate like that at 4-0, you can do it at 1-0, otherwise it's humiliating for us.'

Mourinho accused Conte of disrespect in a heated touchline rant. And the bad blood from Manchester United's 4-0 loss spilled over into the tunnel after the final whistle as a member of Mourinho's staff snubbed a handshake from Conte.

On his first return to Stamford Bridge since being sacked last December, the Old Trafford boss watched his side slump to a heavy defeat in front of the fans who used to adore him.

The incident capped a miserable day for Mourinho on his return to Stamford Bridge

Mourinho could not keep a lid on his disappointment just moments after the end, approaching opposite number Conte and having what looked like an angry word in the Italian's ear.

It is understood Mourinho spoke to Conte in Italian, accusing him of humiliating United by trying to whip up the home support moments after N'golo Kante scored Chelsea's fourth goal. Italian TV reported that Mourinho had said: 'You do it at 1-0, not 4-0.'

Both managers insisted they wanted to keep the details of the spat private, but refused to deny that Mourinho was angered by Conte's touchline enthusiasm. And the Chelsea manager insisted he did not regret his antics, despite irking his predecessor.

'I was a player. I know what the feeling is like (to score). I only told the fans to applaud the team because the team deserved it,' said Conte.

The two managers were all smiles as they embraced each other before the match

'There has always been respect for all, and naturally for Manchester United. Nothing happened. I did something absolutely normal. I didn't do anything to humiliate Mourinho.

'I think that, today, it was right to call our fans. In that moment I was listening only to the supporters of Manchester United at 4-0. So I called the fans to give the players a great clap after this kind of performance.

'The players, after a 4-0 win, deserved a great clap. It's very normal. We live with emotions. If you want to cut the emotions, we can stay at home and I will change jobs.'

Tensions between the two teams were clear to see in the tunnel when members of staff were embroiled in further verbal disputes.

Sources claim that a member of Mourinho's backroom team refused to shake Conte's hand after the final whistle, causing a row.

It is understood the incident didn't involve any former Chelsea staff now working under Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Mourinho, who fears Eric Bailly is set for a lengthy lay-off after limping off with a knee injury, says his team were made to pay for their errors.

'I'm not unhappy with the performances, but with the mistakes,' said Mourinho.

'Defensive mistakes are very important. When my teams have perfection in their defensive performances, you say that is not important. But the reality is that it is important. We made an incredible defensive mistake in the first minute and then the game is different.

'We put ourselves in a situation where we gave them the game they wanted.'

Mourinho received a mixed response from the Stamford Bridge crowd.

'I didn't feel it (the reaction). I was in the game,' Mourinho added. 'For sure it was not negative. It had no reason to be.'

JOSE MOURINHO'S POST MATCH COMMENTS
On United's performance: 'It started bad - after a few seconds we are losing 1-0. And then you are close to the 1-1 and in another defensive mistake they score the 2-0. Then you are close to the 2-1 and they score 2-0 in a counter attack. Then you are close to the 3-1 and then they score the 4-0 in a counter attack. If we play for maybe 10 more minutes we are close to the 4-1 but they could score the 5-0 in a counter attack.

'If you come with a strategy you cannot concede the way we did in the first minute and after that it changed completely the game. It goes out of the window but we also had an offensive approach - we wanted to create chances and to score goals. We showed that immediately after the 1-0 when we immediately had chances and positions and saves by Courtois.

'I think in the end Courtois had more saves than De Gea. Every time they go there they score a goal and the second and third goals are counter attack goals. I told the players we should take the risk in the second half knowing they are very good on the counter attack. But if we scored a goal like we nearly did then the game would have been completely different.

'It is one of those days where you give the advantage to your opponent by doing nothing. They were winning 2-0 after 20 or 25 minutes. After that they played well, were defensively compact and defended well. They used what they have best which is counter attack to score the third and the fourth goal.'

Individual errors: 'In the first minute you analyse the goal and you can see what happened. We made incredible defensive mistakes. Individual defensive mistakes and you pay for that. Then if you equalise after the 1-0 or if you score the 2-1 after the 2-0 you have a big chance because in terms of football the team was quite comfortable.

'We knew we were going to have space with our full-backs because of the way they play. We did that in the second half and we played with Marcus Rashford through the middle to create more mobility from Zlatan's position. We played with just two midfield players and we had no problems at all and we had control of the game. But the control is a bit dangerous because Chelsea have great players on the counter attack who are just waiting for that.'

Mourinho admitted his side paid for individual errors in his post-match comments

Words with Conte: 'It was with Antonio, not with you. Of course not... I was speaking with Antonio, not with you. I am sorry.'

Luiz's tackle on Fellaini: 'I don't want to speak about it. If I speak about the referee people are going to say you lost 4-0 so I prefer not to speak.'

How much of a setback? 'In terms of points it is zero points. When you lose 1-0 or 4-0 you lose three points, you don't lose four, five or six points. You lose three points. We are six points from the top of the league and we are I think maybe three or four from the top four. We now need to win matches.

'We had a week with two matches away to two candidates - Liverpool and Chelsea - and now other teams from the top five have to play between themselves. We need to win our matches which are not easy but we play Burnley, we play Swansea, we play West Ham and we need to win matches to close the gap. After these last three matches in the league we have two draws and one defeat. We made two points out of nine. Now what we need is points.'

Reception at Stamford Bridge: 'Fine. I was not expecting anything different. The people inside the tunnel who are friends were friends, the ones that were not special friends were not special friends. The crowd behaved in a normal way so there was nothing wrong.'

Thanks for that huge link that just confirmed what we already know. Mourinho is a hypocrite and a bad loser.
May I pass on my sincere apologies for the feelings of unease you had to experience for that "huge link" that was forced upon you ;)

Of course, Jose would never do such a thing...

I think united right now are just amazing me really.

You look at that team and amazingly they have a young spine that could carry them to great places. Lingaard/Pogba/Martial/Depay/Shaw/Bailly/De Gea all to name a few would walk into most teams line ups. And then they keep hiring managers who are the absolute worst to be able to bring them on!

If united had hired a manager in the summer for the future and decided they were going to develop a young team for the long term then they would be much better off. So if they publically took a year out and said we are planning on looking long term then it would have been much better for them i think. Threw money at spurs for Ali perhaps, swap Ibra for another young striker, lukaku even and sell off a few older players this summer and just go from there.

Instead they are building one team and hiring managers who need the other. It makes no sense, they want instant success with a team that won't be ready to do it for a few years. Best thing for them to do is hit reset and forget the ferguson years as a standard but try to get to that level by rebuilding an empire again.

Those of us of a certain vintage see history repeating itself big time at Old Trafford.

This is exactly the same as what happened in the years following the retirement of Matt Busby.

Those of us of a certain vintage see history repeating itself big time at Old Trafford.

This is exactly the same as what happened in the years following the retirement of Matt Busby.

It is what made Ferguson the best manager of all time. He could take a great team to success and then rebuild it rather than dwell on it and do the same. He took the class of 92 team (as it is apparantly called) after success with the old guard, then rebuilt into the cole/yorke partnership team and so on and so forth until his retirement. Massive credit has to be given for that, Ferguson could keep building succesful teams over 20 odd years, his successor for example failed to build one in 11. Think that speaks volumes of Moyes as a choice tbh!

Talking to ManU mate last night, he can't see any difference between this side, LVGs team and the performances under Moyes, apart from spending gazillions......
