How stupid are Manu?

It has got PANIC written all over it. Falcao is an upgrade on Rooney/RVP though, there's no doubt about that.

People said the same when we bought RVP from you lot a few years ago. We didn't have a midfield then, plus we didn't have Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria, Luke Shaw or Marcos Rojo. That turned out ok though. You can dress it up how you like but we are a far better team NOW than we were when we won our 20th league title.

Basically, this is the bottom line - Falcao was offered to Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd. We bit Monaco's hand off seeing as RVP is going to be having knee surgery. What were we supposed to say? Would you have turned it down if you were Ed Woodward?

He'll score lots of goals. It's a no brainer.

As for this summer transfer window - it's been a dream come true. I can't believe the players we've brought in considering we have no CL footy to offer.

Exciting times.

Looking at the deals United have done, the pressure is definitely on for van Gaal to get them back into the Champions League.

I'm sure he will, though. Falcao pretty much guarantees a serious amount of goals.

They should have spent the money they've spent on Falcao on a competent centre half and right back.

And that defence pretty much guarantees a serious amount of goals conceded. At least they can buy a top class defender in January if it isn't working out, but by then they may be too far off the pace, at least for the top two or three in the league.

Will Falcao and di Maria enjoy winter fixtures away to Leicester or in intimidating stadia with as Stoke or Goodison? Can't believe they didn't buy a proven, top class cb!

How many more times, RVP is due to have surgery on his knee. Which would leave us with just Rooney as a striking option seeing as Welbeck is off to Arsenal and Hernandez has gone to Real.

This will probably be our first 11 next season, if/when everyone is fit:

And then we also have a back-up 11 of:

One game per week and Van Gaal in charge. I hope we can pip Arsenal to 4th.

So Rafael gets in your team but RVP doesn't?

Van Gaal goes on about balance, but..I'm not seeing any.

Their defence is awful.

Rafael is ok, nothing special.

Smalling / Jones / Evans are mid-table fodder at best.

Shaw is decent but very overrated imo. He's NEVER scored a goal(!), isn't physically imposing, is apparently overweight and gets much fewer assists than Coleman.

Rojo I have no idea.

And that's it!

De Gea is also so-so for me. Rather have T-How.

Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata, Robin van Persie, Adnan Januzaj - Radamel Falcao? How will Manchester United get them all in one team? Too many big names?

this is what irks me.

wtf has adnan januzaj done to be labelled amongst all those world class names?

alex kaclicnik at fulham started off the season better but because he doesn't play for united, hasn't been remembered off one game.

I don't think top-drawer players are as afraid of cold nights in Stoke as we like to believe.

As for their defence, it isn't great but they'll cope once they're all fit and available.

RVP won you the title in Ferguson's final year which was worth an awful lot.

But since then he's cost you a significant amount in lost wages being injured last year plus looking like he is out for a good chunk of this. His arrival made Rooney v unhappy which meant you had to give him a ridiculously long/expensive contract upsetting your wage structure plus encouraged one of your few recent academy players to leave to seek first team football.

So in the short-term RVP was a very succesful signing but in the long term a poor one imo. But obviously your club think differently as they are again signing an injury prone 28yr old talented striker to a very expensive contract despite significant gaps elsewhere in the squad.

Perhaps it will work out the same way, perhaps not - at least you should live in interesting times!

It has got PANIC written all over it.

No doubt about it.

They then proceed to delude themselves that they are the only club in the world that could attract this calibre of player without CL soccer.

When the truth of the matter is his agent must have fallen out the chair when his demand for funny money was met.

They are paying £130,000 per week to a teenage full back the manager doesn't appear to fancy....they can't get rid of Cleverly because no one else will pay anything like the £80,000 per week he is on.

So how much must Falcao be on?

The wage bill at that club is kamikaze.

'kinell.......this is like a gambler chasing his losses in Vegas.

And there are only so many losing spins of the wheel he can afford to ride out before penury looms.

United better hope this this trolley dash works.

I make it round about a quarter of a billion quid United have spent in twelve months.

What would it be like if them evil Glazers actually decided to fund the club instead of "bleed it dry".....

I'm all for this RAWK Meltdown fella, he does some sterling work, but when we're in a United thread and talking about United, having a pot shot at our back line isn't really necessary is it? We know where our issues lie. United are living in denial if they don't think they need to address the centre of the park, in defence and midfield.

Amazing signing pulling off Falcao though lid.

they've overpaid for pretty much everyone, but lets be honest, none of them are bad players are they. LVG has the confidence to stick to his own plans and ignore the media bells, he also hasn't surrounded himself with yes men like neville and round, so they might actually have a chat about footy that doesn't end in the sentance 'yes mr moyes'. I can see them becoming threat at some point this season, whether that's too late for the top four or not I'm not sure. They could have done with a proven center halve and an another CM, but you don't necessarily need outstanding defenders to have a decent defense if you can get them organised
