Im just gonna say it, the Americans seem to praise EVERY player, I dont think ive seen a lid from MURICA ever slate an Everton player, maybe its the American mentality to praise all the time, maybe they consider it wrong to criticise.

Im not being Americanist, ive got lots of American friends and I watched all 5 Season of The Wire, plus I consider The Black Eyed Peas a good group that writes good music.

Just saying.

In regards Howard, I do agree with Bill, at the current time he is the least of our problems, a Striker who can put the round thing in the net thingy is by far the biggest issue, then we clearly need a door unlocker in midfield, then possibly some REAL competition for the wings, for times when Pienaar and SuperKev go AWOL, do we have that with Oviedo? Time will tell, then the Keeper issue needs addressing, but if we do the first 3, I doubt we will have funds to do anything.

Mucha is leaving, so that leaves us light in terms of GK, so the new Manager might consider it a pressing issue, unless 1 of the young lids in the U21 and U18 can step up.

Howard over the years has made some wonderful saves, this isnt a slight on non match going fans, but my seat at Goodison is ideal for watching him for 45minutes every home game, I see all his mistakes and I see all the utterly amazing saves he does and as I say, hes made some saves over the years that have left me amazed, far too many to mention, but the mistakes stick in my mind, maybe thats down to me, maybe as an Englishman im a glass half full kinda guy, by birth.

But to go back to my other point, I do agree that the Keeper issues isnt as pressing as others, AT THE MOMENT, but Howard certainly isnt getting any younger and how long can he maintain his utterly superb luck with injuries.

Perhaps here maybe, but I frequent another sports message board and I don't think that can be further from the truth. And Heitinga sucks.

Neville was awful 95% of the time he was on the field, Osman was poor at times, Mirallas went missing for the Anfield derby, Jelavic blows now, Heitinga was cr@p most of the season, Howard was poor to start the season. Better?

Plenty of players on the US national team suck too. I'll give details there if you want as well.

Agreed on your assessment of Howard here. You seem a bit pessimistic, however.

It's not about football knowledge, that's not the point.

Two posts on here implied that criticisiing players make you less of a real fan.

This one.

And this reply.

They're not about knowledge at all, they're about whether we're good fans or real supporters as opposed to merely 'supporters'.

I think it's somewhat ironic that people who don't go regularly to games, don't regularly cheer for the team, don't regularly pay money into the club's coffers etc, have decided to make a checklist about what constitutes a good or a real fan and judge the people who don't make it. Given that they would fail on a lot of people's checklists themselves.

This isn't about football opinions at all, I largely agree with both of them on Howard. It's certainly not about knowledge. This about whether posting critical words on a forum while you cheer the team in person stops you from being a real fan or a good fan.

I'd hoped that by implying that bill and skelton weren't real fans themselves, they'd realise how crappy that is and apologise for it.

But instead they just got really angry that someone dared make a checklist of what makes a real fan that they fail to pass but are happy to judge other fans who don't meet their own critera as not real in the same breadth.

Can we not agree that we're all fans and just not go down this road of doubting each others support? Because everybody won't meet one critera at some point. We'll come down to just Alan Ball being counted as an actual fan and all the rest of us as plastics.

Fantastic reply.

Just because you happen to say it, doesn't make it fact, no matter how much you would like it to be. And tbf, it even takes away from the points you were trying to make. Please, provide evidence for these facts...

This forum for one. Shall I go on? You've been on here since March of '09. Surely this hasn't escaped you.

About Villa, I'd wager they know more than you. Players voted him as well. Do you know more about Villa than it's own players as well?

Ooooh...he's got you there Goat...

What the hell do Villas players know?

I judge players with my own eyes, I tend not to take much notice what other teams think of their own players, maybe your new to the whole Goat player rating system? Only the very best get to be called decent.

...oh, hang on. Maybe not....

How is it that bill ? Or are we not allowed to question you as you ontinually threaten to ban others who don't share your opinion and label them as you have done AF above ?

To be honest bill you are out of order.

Sorry mate but you are. And since YOU'VE brought it up, please quote the post where I said I'll ban someone for having a different opinion. And you're telling me I'M out of order. Hahahahaha.

That's one's getting old mate. It really is. Old and tiresome.

I've had enough of posters like AF (and I'm confident I"m not the only one) and if he continually needs you rushing to his defense everytime he sticks his foot in his mouth, then perhaps GOT isn't for him.

You need to go have a word with yourself if YOU of all people are telling ME what is out of order on here and what isn't.

They're not opinions though, they're facts.

Mate you're having a laugh.

Come back on GOT when you're ready from some serious debate and less of the name calling. Maybe Kipper will open back up for you and some of your friends on here. Absolutely laughing here.

Only problem with your post above though is that YOU were the one questioning one's support because they don't or can't get to games regularly. I haven't seen anyone on here who can't get to games regularly call out someone who does.

I have however seen it the other way around where someone who can get to games regularly call out someone who can't.

Why is that? Where does that come from?

Believe me that if there are any Everton supporters outside of the greater Liverpool area, they sure as heck aren't glory hunters or bandwagon fans.

I'd rather people just refrain from that line of thinking because I've been to TWO Everton matches (not including friendlies, etc...) in my entire life and it isn't because I just don't feel like going.

Ok Bill, you're right. Can't argue with facts.

Your usual response.

Do you just copy and paste this when you don't have anything relevant to say in regards to the topic at hand? It seems to be par for the course with you.

I asked why the nationality of the poster has to come into to play and your response is "Ok Bill, you're right."

If you say so.

Not sure I can take the first half seriously...

However, I agree that the money that would be required to upgrade Howard is much better spent on a striker, a winger, and a center back. The biggest goalkeeping concern should be developing a young backup to take over from Howard in the not-so-distant future.

We could keep us Americans happy and go after Sean Johnson... :D

I've been to an Everton match. You?

I find your post highly offensive and your tone frankly sucks. You don't like MY OPINIONS, too bad, I could give a ****.

So let me rephrase your original post:

"I find the idea of people who go to Goodison on a regular basis that cast aspersions on those who cannot or are unable to go as not real supporters as somewhat ironic, but there you go."

And I do deal in facts, and those who are unable to deal with those facts respond just as you have. With very little in detail and even less in substance.

Steer clear with your bull**** or go find another Everton forum. Why? Cause you're an ass (on more than one occasion.)
Read your last line Bill....... That's my final word on it.
