Was wondering how long it would take. And there it is. At least it actually took a couple of pages this time.

Maybe we speak up because we actually have an opinion. You know, like you British blokes do.

And I guess we only come onto GOT to support American players. Please re-read your post and recognize how ridiculous it is.
To be fair it seems every American rates Howard and every American wants Donovan back. Big doubts over them with everyone else.

I can understand how US fans like yourself see him, being ace against the likes of Canada and really want to back him in the PL, but we're talking a different standard and different consistency in the PL that the lad just isnt up to!

America have had some great keepers, Howard just isn't one of them, I'd happily swap him for Friedal in the morning!

I think Friedel is a better keeper than Howard. And I'm still mad that he retired when he did.

But to say "being ace against the likes of Canada" is disrespectful to Howard's national team performances.

Tim Howard has helped the US against some top teams: including an absolutely brilliant performance against Spain in 2009. He has held back Brazil, Mexico, England, Italy, Belgium....

To act like he's just ace against Canada is lame.

You can have your opinion about him Neiler, but it's not like he only plays against Antigua and Barbuda on the national team.

EDIT: Oh, and I do think he's a better keeper for the US than Everton. No idea why.

Howard, Donovan and Dempsey are our three best players right now (Michael Bradley would be in that list of late). Of course we rate them (and not everyone does, come on now). Howard ranks among our best keepers, LD is the best player in our history, and Clint is #2 (though some have those reversed).

How rating them is a surprise to any of you I don't know. Pick England's three best players - most people support them. Hart, Rooney, Baines... (however you rank your three) You support.

But to say we only support them in the PL because they are American is ridiculous. They actually are top performers with a long history. Or else we'd be on here saying we should be in for Jozy Altidore because he had a hat trick the other day.

Our top 3 are in a different league than our other players. You'll see the Yanks providing balanced perspectives on other players - an example being Geoff Cameron, who has been spoken about here. Tim Ream. Stuart Holden.

We talk about the big three because two of them played/play here, and one of them came close to playing here.

Seriously ???? from 3 yards out ??

Yes, seriously and it wasn't 3 yards out it was about 10 yards. A goalkeeper doesn't stand straight up when someone is through on goal, they crouch in anitcipation of the shot, its all about angles an ensuring they are covered; however the ball was bouncing, so if Howard would have come off his line and crouched Ba could have easily guided the ball over his head, its not hard.

Howard came rushing out to put Ba off and he did, hence the reason why Ba didn't properly connect with the ball went low and under Howard.

Support and rate are a different thing. I don't support England's best 3 players but I rate them because, no offense, England are a better team than USA.

San Marino's 3 best players of all time are probably all gash.

No one said England wasn't a better team than the USA. But we have decent players too.

Now you're insulting our USMNT by comparing us to San Marino. C'mon man.

Each of our top three have a long history of stats, performance and victory (and stats against decent competition) to back them up. Not the case with San Marino or the Faroe Islands. And those three have carried the national team against the likes of teams like Spain...and yes, England.

It's not like I'm on here raving about how great Carlos Bocanegra is - he's been the captain of our national team for forever and a great player, but no, I don't think he's Everton material.

You cannot use the top three as an example of how Americans blindly support because we are American.

I've had this argument before. This line of thinking pisses me off, it's annoying, and it's brought up every single time Howard or LD are blasted. It's exhausting and I wish people would quit mentioning it when Americans don't bring it up. It shouldn't matter as we are all Evertonians. No mentions the Irish when Coleman is mentioned. How about we give the American thing a frigging rest.

Honest question mate as i know we will never agree on the issue, but are the games say against Spain, Brazil etc in a high pressure tournament, i ask becuase im wondering is the flaw in his ability or his mentality, clearly if hes ace when the pressure is of it may be the latter.

Or maybe a different context like international football, were pressure is intermittent is diferent from the rigours and pressure of consistent football week in week out like in the PL.

Thats a great post mate and i agree, Donovan and Dempsey are class to be honest they would get into any team in the world on ability. Im a massive fan of Holden as well, havnt been impressed by Bradley, while Cameron though i havnt seen enough of him looks like he is a very good player.

TBF there has been a signifcant jump of quality players coming from the states in the last 5 years, i honestly believe they will win the world cup in the next 40 years.

Not tied to Everton. Americans, right or wrong, feel disrespected across Europe. I'm not saying that's how I feel. It was brought up how Americans furiously defend their players whether right or wrong. I was merely offering explanation. SOME Americans feel that their players are looked down upon.

They are, most of them are crap.

Im going to have to play the controversial card and disagree with you there.

England are rather crap. I would say they are of a similar standard right now currently.

It's not an American soccer forum.
Don't see why it's a ridiculous post, but whatever, you keep having your love in with the american players and I'll concentrate on Everton.

Spain was in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup when Spain was unbeaten and number 1.
