When it comes to judging keepers they're not toatally irelevant. I aint saying they're the be all and end all of determining how good a keeper is but they most certainly show that if a keeper has the stats that Howard does then he isn't as bad as Neiler makes out and i don;t see how that can be argued.
He costs us points last night yeah. But you can't argue that a keepers job is to make saves , then say he's crap when he makes a higher percentage of saves than a keeper you say is better.
He's been a regular keeper in a top 8 Prem team for 5 years now, He's not the best but he ain't the worst and you simply do not get the stats he does over the seasons without being a good keeper.

So yeah, like i said surely those stats help backup the reasonable opinion that Howard is a good PremierLeague keeper?
Mingolet is this years receipent of ace goalkeeper tip of the year, coincidentally hes Belg as well. If i was us id go after young Stockdale boss keeper.
One things for certain we have an ace defense how much are we paying Howard a week.

It makes our defence look boss mate, he let in a third of his shots while he wasnt called upon as much or as successfully as the likes of say Foster, Krul, Mingolet.

Some of it is surprising, pound for pound the likes of Krul, Foster, Mingolet, Begovic look real quality.
Its deceptive though, for example Szczesney let in 7 in one game, Krul 6 in one game its not really a great reflection of ability over or consistency over the season.
Howard is one of the least busy goalkeeprs out there - hiding in the long grass.

As I have said before he has been a good keeper for us in general. But for about a year now he has been poor.
Honestly stats mean nothing. Look at how Liverpool rave about Joe Allen and has passing stats. It means nothing if they dont score.
It can certainly be argued because the proof is infront of us. He makes too many mistakes. Mistakes are not included in stats like you have stated and he makes far too many of them.
What constitutes a save anyway? Howard could mop up 9 pea rollers in a game. If he lets a speculative 40 yarder in his stats still look good as he has saved 90% of what has came his way. It doesnt matter as in this instance he should have saved 100%.
You are right in one way though, he aint the worst. But he is getting worse and some of his mistakes have been laughable. Good goalkeepers dont make many mistakes. He makes plenty lately.

Now you've mentioned him though I have noticed that if I imagine Gregg Wallace his default expression is a satisfied grin, I can't picture him doing anything else.
