Perhaps we should be doing better, I think 5th-6th is where we should be as a club each season, for that reason I see Howard as that bracket of keeper. Catch 22, we won't progress without better players, but we can't afford better players without investment or from reaching higher positions on the table. Howard represents Everton's status for me.

I agree, like I said he's good enough for now but first up against the wall when the shiekhs come in.
 
Some of his mistakes of late might be starting to worry the defenders a bit, hoping they don't lose faith in him.

'Richard Wright' syndrome as its known is horrible, I remember how shocking the defence were when they lost faith in him.

I don't know how many times he's kicked it to where there isn't' a blue for 10 yds, and he's got length issues too :unsure:

his kick when he scored against bolton was terrible, nowhere near anybody

i get the feeling they've lost confidence in him. i wouldn't say the fact we're playing a slightly more attacking RB in the last couple of games would dent their confidence, think it's to do with the trust behind them. all 3 are very quality centre backs and they've all looked very shaky on more than once occasion this season, it's been a long time since i've seen an everton centre back pairing like that for a decent amount of time
 

Thought he was awfull yesterday, the first wasn't a goal if he stayed on his line the second he just fell on his backside, reckon we would be a few places better of with a decent keeper!

But then I have a vendetta! In other news Krul and Mingolet have stormers - just saying like!

Same here....

Although I dont blame him for either goal I do think he could have done better. He does some really weird things at times.
 
Damn it neiler don't make me neg you again! Mind you, while I don't think he wad to blame for the goals once again his unorthodox style didn't look good.
 
i'm not too sure why he came off his line for the first, it was a tight angle and it meant suarez could shoot rather than try and pick out the one other player in the box. Can have questions about the 2nd but, the blame has to lay with the defence for that, was shocking marking. We definitely need to shift mucha, buy a new first choice and have howard as a good backup. Mignolet, krul and vorm are all oustanding keepers at smaller and lesser clubs that would improve us considerably, would also provide greater confidence in our defence which may partly be the reason why we've been so bad this season
 

Is it just me or does Howard perform better when he's wearing the US jersey? I watched them at the World Cup 2010 if i remember correctly and he made an outstanding performance. In the Premier League he is just average.

He went out to suarez because nobody else did. i sit behind the goal, he looked for a defender realised no-one was going towards suarez so had to go himself. he had no choice really or suarez would have just made himself a better angle under no pressure. i'm not a fan of howard but he couldn't really do anything else for the first goal.

Hes not a defender though he's a keeper, I can understand closing down a forward if he's bearing down on goal with no defender in front of them, suarez was at an implossible angle and not hitting it there and then would have given the defence a chance to reposition. Secondly he wasn't the last man/ defender which is the rule for keepers, a step in the other direction and Baines cuts the angle which he does, if Howard doesn't go MIA were laughing at Suarez.
