Got to be pleased over all with that, exactly the sort of game we would have lost in previous seasons. Good turn out from Townsend despite one or two wayward crosses / corners.
we’ve struggled with 11 men in those sort of encounters previously so hopefully a shot across the bows not to switch off or take anything for granted. Good to see a bit of grit and determination for a change, plus good subs given what was on the bench.

One or two wayward crosses!!

I heard the first one has just landed in Manchester!

Good result, absolutely average performance, which descended to awful at times. Got out of jail here, went with Tommy D. For man of the match on the basis of his assist for Iwobi’s goal and him being marginally less bad than his colleagues.

Great result when down to 10 men with a 2nd XI out there.

We were probably helped by the fact Huddersfield are really poor. They'd be foolish to put that down as a good display by themselves - we were there for the taking and it didn't happen for them.

JJK - not good enough
Kean - not for us
Davies - found his level
Gomes - too slow for English football now (despite a lovely assist Tbf)
Keane - need to be dropped
Townsend - double corner practise all week

everyone else - passes the test.

I think Nkounkou is ready, has been since he got here.

Like most young lads they need game time, its hard to get that though especially with Digne in the team.

Centre back less so but its still a risky one I suppose.
I like him going forward. Looks to have a decent cross. But I’m not as sold on his defensive abilities just yet. At least not at the Premier League level.

Got out of jail. Some very poor performances, Tom Davies one. Gomes looked sharp as did Gray. We’re through and unbeaten leave it at that
It was the reserves, something we've not had in the past like the big boys do in this competition. We won and no first teamers were injured. Usually our first 11 get humiliated in this competition.

This result is bigger then many imagine.
