I thought the days of bricking it when we conceded a corner had passed, but atrocious set-up from set pieces, Keane is making mistakes and is getting punished for everyone whilst Holgate gets away with it. Good to see Gbamin get 90, not ready for a Premiership start yet as he clearly isn't up to the speed of the game yet but he looks to be a great athlete. Felt for Kean, goal disallowed and a good save from keeper, no other player on the pitch gets sent off for what he did in retaliation, reputation followed him there. Shame really because he actually looked like he was enjoying himself. Iwobi MOTM for me, he has looked really sharp so far, just needs to consistently find 7/10 performances instead of the usual 5s.

Was a second string 11 and they got the job done. Also factor in we had a goal ruled out that was arguably onside and a sending off that was very harsh.

We are in the draw for the next round, ergo job done.
Some poor individual performances, but we still had enough to get the result despite the number of second string players. All the subs made a positive impact. Refereeing was poor throughout.
I gave MOM to Alex Iwobi although nobody really stood out.

Weird game,VAR would have overturned those three big decisions I am sure,however if the Kean goal had stood to make it 2-0 then maybe the other two decisions don't happen!!credit where credit is due,he made the right call on all three subs I thought.

In seasons gone by those sort of thrown together sides have been awful. It wasn’t a vintage performance but it was tactically astute and even with a sending off they got the job done. Credit to Benitez.
