Hypothetical Manager Shortlist No.1

Next manager of our dearly beloved blueboys?

I just think better managers are slightly out of reach mate.

For many reasons.

I dont like to put the club down, honestly, to me, Everton is everything, its my world, so what im about to write might not make much sense, but............

In the grand scale of things we are honestly a nothing club, people have this perception that titles we won 30 years ago means something, that Dixie Dean means something, that our list of firsts mean something, they mean the world to us, but they mean VERY little in this era. We are considered a good club, with a loyal fanbase and we have the attraction of being very much a Premier League club.

But ask yourself, why would Emery pick us? Hes over in France winning titles and cups, playing CL football, what attraction would 8th place Everton hold to him? Why wouldnt he pick another team he can win titles at, win cups at, play CL football?

Thats why, like when we appointed Sam and Koeman, I consider Silva the best we can currently attract.

I wouldn’t be so pessimistic mate. A lot depends on how we project our ambition for the forthcoming season. A lot depends on how Moshiri sells his project to the new manager. We now have bigger budget than an average premiere league team. This is a major pulling point for any manager. Our next manager might earn 6m per season, not much team can offer these type of wages. The reason we stoop so Low when we hire sam is because we panic and not much talented manager available at mid season. Circumstances has change, we should be in the driving seat in terms of hiring now.

Exactly. Which is why some people turning their noses up at Silva makes no sense. Silva has shown how he can energise a team and organise it to get better performances than anyone has a right to expect. Hull - he ran out of time to save; Watford - a fine first half of the season derailed by the carpet bagger lifting his skirts for him then running off leaving him in the lurch.

He's free, he's good. It is as obvious a no brainer for this club as there is and even the nobhead in control of it has to see it too.

Theres many question marks I have regarding Silva, but his record is good enough, in places, for me to fully get behind the fella.

As perhaps an outsider view I don't think Emery should be seen as out of reach at all tbh. He's lost a bit of cred because he's being shipped out by PSG. If Everton offer him a nice summer budget I think he'd jump at the chance.

The thing is the Premier League is super attractive because any manager coming here gets to compete with Mourinho, Pep, Klopp etc. and that comes with the possibility of showing them up or doing really well and gaining a lot of reputation.

We can certainly put an attractive offer on a table mate, but we arent the only 1s, sure we should have better pulling power than some other clubs in the league, but every other team in this league has access to same 150m a year Sky money we do. And its not just about money, its about the long game, say Emery takes the job, I keep using his name, but of course other managers exist!, but say he takes the job and does poorly, his "image" is tarnished, but say he takes another job, for less money, wins a title, wins a cup, does well in the CL, he can then take a step up with his next job and earn the dough.

I dont even consider it pessimism to be honest, just reality.

The coaching part for Silva sounds like what we need, A kick up the arse and an actual plan, Because Fat Sam and Koeman have been totally clueless on how to work this team, Not entirely there fault since the players have been proper s.houses.

As an outsider, what are your honest feelings on Everton?

Please, speak frankly.

I will do Spurs for you, but its very cliche.

You are a top side, just on the edge of making that final push to silverware, you have an excellent manager and some very, very good players, recruitment could have been slightly better of late, Moura looks like he stinks a lot, but its early days yet, with a few players in key areas I think you could make a fist of things next season, but you must retain Kane, Alli and Eriksen.

The problem with top managers is who realistically will take the job? Lets look at 2 levels of managers that are available or about to become available. Please add names of mangers that are available or will be this summer.

Top Managers
Ancelotti available
Enrique available
Emery about to be available
Wenger about to be available( I personally think he will not manage another English club)
Conte I think will be available
Van Gaal available

The turnover of top jobs across Europe means the above list will not be long without a job and they can like Ancelotti has done wait until a job they like comes along. Only Van Gaal IMO would consider us.

The next level of Manager IMO
Tuchel Available
Fonseca about to be available
Silva available
Vila Boas Available

Now lets look at the list of clubs looking for new managers: Again Please add if I missed anyone.

Everton
Arsenal
Chelsea
West Ham
Southampton
Leicester

Plus the likes of PSG on the continent.

Being honest I think Moshiri came in with the best of intentions but has ultimately made the wrong choices on the type of project for Everton to pursue. I think he had hoped to catch up to the top 6 the quick way by buying proven players for high prices and rapidly increase Evertons level. However it hasn't worked out and now a lot of the purchases are ageing or really need to be moved on. It sort of reminds me of the Tottenham AVB era.

It can be turned around though. If I were an Everton fan I would be hoping for a young coach with an ambition to build a project that focuses on a specific attacking style of play targetting young players with room to grow in the transfer market. It's the best way to get Everton back to the level they should be at.

What would be your thoughts on Silva replacing Poch, im aware that you are in a different bracket to us.
