Thing is mate, other countries see the hard working attitude of British players as a positive thing that they wish they saw more in their own players

No one way is better than the other. For every hard working player who isn't that technically gifted that makes it, there are technically great players who don't because they are lazy or go out on the razz when they should be getting a good nights sleep and showing up to training on time.

You should put the hours in, you should be dedicated, you should be humble and always willing to learn. These ARE positive qualities and they should be rewarded. If you're technically great but not bothered to put the work in, you deserve to be passed over

What? If anything tins the other way round.

Inverting the Pyramid, mate

Great bit in there about it

Was written six years ago and the data/interviews were probably compiled pre-2000.

On the pitch maybe, but you could argue that the superior technical ability of virtually every other nation is because their players do the right practice more than England's.

Nah, in the states we hate the whole enigma type player. In baseball, for example, we'd rather have a player who hits .260 who busts his ass every play and runs all out to first even tho he's out by a mile than a player who looks like he's loafing.

What? No I know, so would everyone. Why would you like someone lazy?

I mean foreign players are generally more dedicated and hard working.

because that is the assumption and mistrust that our nation harbours over technique based players, Moyes being the classic example of that mistrust, god forbid they come with a laconic running style as well, Rui Costa would have got nine caps over 10 years had he been english

Well yeah, it's a bit silly really isn't it?

I mean, I'd want a hard working player over a lazy one, but I'd rather have a skilled player who put a decent shift in over some nutcase who ran round like a tit miscontrolling everything. A combination of skill and hard work is what you need, which is why James McCarthy is boss.

You'd know better than me mate, but there is too many sgt major's in coaching in our country, maybe it's improving, I've always found faith to be a better motivator than fear. You can coach someone to be dedicated and hard working through fear, but they will never express themselves as the player they should be without being shown a bit of faith. You can see the change in Everton's players even the seasoned pro's, when it comes to us as a nation, we talk about changing our ways for about 4 weeks after our latest world cup failure, then revert to type soon after
