to achieve what thierry henry did, except in england we accept an average middle ground of organised mediocrity
Extremely well organised mediocrity, I think you mean. They may not be very good but they are well disciplined. Unlike these Johnny Foreigners with their fluid tactics. A player swapping wings is like trying to deceive the opposition. A man reads the team sheet before the game against one of these continental types and finds he's been lied to. It's disgraceful and unsporting.

great and ambitious things can be achieved by sporting endeavour , like a top ten finish

You'd know better than me mate, but there is too many sgt major's in coaching in our country, maybe it's improving, I've always found faith to be a better motivator than fear. You can coach someone to be dedicated and hard working through fear, but they will never express themselves as the player they should be without being shown a bit of faith. You can see the change in Everton's players even the seasoned pro's, when it comes to us as a nation, we talk about changing our ways for about 4 weeks after our latest world cup failure, then revert to type soon after

Spot on.

Too many dickheads really.

Phil Neville worked hard while he was here and he put the time in and he then retired and moved on

I mean, I didn't want him on the playing squad anymore and I wasn't bothered that he chose to be coach at Man United instead of here. Bobby had his own people anyway

I just don't see any reason to mad at him for anything really. At the end of the day, Moyes was picking him and starting him above other players

Neville trained hard, showed up on time, watched his diet, kept his head down and saw out the end of his career. You can say you didn't like his playing style, but I can't see why anyone would HATE him. It's not like he bailed on us, cheated to beat us in a cup Quarter Final and then rubbed it in our faces is it?

Ah, but I forget, Arteta was good at football so he's allowed to be as big a knob as he wants and we all still have to like and respect him, where as Phil Neville was just a consumate pro, so he's deserving of our hatred

Arteta got dog's abuse last time we played.

And some people on here were bemoaning how bad it was and how it wasn't deserved. Cos Arteta is a really good footballer see, so it's wrong of us to have a go at him when he cheats us in a Cup match

Phil Neville though, he's the one truly deserving of all the bile and anger. The guy who was with us for years, was club captain and always took his job seriously and then moved on to another coaching role because we had a change of leadership here at the club. What a knob!
