I think we will stay up..

The only positive I can see is as bad as we’ve been, we still aren’t in the relegation zone and have 3 games in hand. Still time fix it, although I do have very little faith in this group of players.

Time for positive thoughts.- Always
Lots of games to go - True
We are Everton - Also True
The players will fight for their and our lives - Haha
We are too good to go down - Yeah right
I know its not Christmas, but it's not looking good.

...I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave new year
All anguish, pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
Hallelujah, Noel be it heaven or hell

The Christmas we get, we deserve

(I wonder if I still know the way to Blackburn etc. can't have shanged that much, though its been a while)

Just my opinion but the players need to know when the fans aren’t satisfied. They have got to know the size of this football club and it’s not a matter of staying up it’s a matter of what is required week in week out in this league. They have got to be braver. We defended better today but we played like a team scared to play football and that should never be the case.

I hope we stay up. But I dont know what to think anymore. Today was deflating. The players knew the importance of the game but didn't put the effort in.
I think they had a plan but it’s not not trying. but there is a fear which we need to fix. We dropped and they gained confidence as soon as the goal went in.

Flip side too we'd all be better just accepting that there's probably a 1 in 3 chance we could face the drop this season. So a very real chance.

It'll make the weekends easier and maybe allow us to enjoy what time we've left in the Premier League if relegation ends up being the case. The fear is ruining peoples weeks and making the situation worse.

I look at the bulk of the Watford, Norwich, Burnley and Leeds fans etc online and they're all very much "we can stay up here if..." etc etc no ones cry arsing online saying, "we're going down" etc or worrying about their fixtures. Newcastle another good example of that. They just get behind their teams, have belief and no fear if it doesn't work out. I don't reckon any of those teams are better than ours like.

Since October our lot have been telling everyone we're going down and it's now the bulk saying it, understandably so now, but since October? Cmon! The relegation thread in here started Oct 24th!

It's a fear based reaction and it needs to stop. We just need to be adults about it, grow a set and accept that we could go down. If we do we do there's 'F' all we can do about it except get behind the team.

But there probably as much chance that we could stay up. The defeastist fear based mindset is mental. So what if we go down? It's terrible but we'll deal with it. Do we only support Everton if in the Prem? We don't cease to exist if out of the Prem for a season or two. If it happens we just have to accept the reality of the situation. It's like grief. Anger, denial and all that...

What happened after the match today with the booing and chanting at the players, "you're not fit to wear the shirt" isn't going to help one iota either. Just don't go the game if that's how ya feel. These lads don't support the club like us and if we go down they go to another Premier League club so abusing them will probably just make them give up even more, if that's even possible.

I agree with you though, a few weeks and a small run of form changes everything. 5 wins and we most likely stay up or 4 wins and a few draws. Either or. Seems impossible now but it seemed impossible for Newcastle and Watford too.

Edit: Also, even if we manage to stay up, next season isn't going to be any easier imo. Easier just to accept where we are at right now and lose the fear.
The fans have played a big part in getting us down there close to being relegated with the campaign against the previous manager...by the same token they can play a big part in keeping us in the PL. Yesterday was a chance lost in that respect. The argument that the players need to give fans somethiong to dhout about forst will get us relegated. As sure as night follows day, because we've all agreed in the past that these players cant do it on their own.

A quiet Goodison yesterday lost us 3 points. Re[eat that another 1 or 2 times and we're relegated.

It's a simple choice to make.

Forget these players, they are a dead loss in tems of standing up for themselves in games and getting momentum. The Goodison crowd has to save us.
