If Silva is sacked - who could/should we get?

I'd like to see a British manager given a chance. Look at the success we've had with foreign managers over the years. Martinez had 1 good season then quickly went downhill. Koeman had 6 good games then went downhill and Silva has stayed at the bottom of the hill since day one.
It's become the fashion to appoint foreign managers thinking they're better, more tactical or going to attract better players. But most foreign managers get sacked within a couple of years. There's no proven track record of success from most of them. Fair enough the top 6 have mainly had foreign managers for the last 10 years or more but look below that and the turnover of managers has been staggering.
If we're going to take a punt on a manager I'd prefer to take a punt on an English manager. Give them a chance like we did with Moyes. Eddie Howe is the obvious choice, he's done OK with Bournemouth but he was never going to be any better than OK with the resources they have. Give him some money and a man like Brands to help him build a better squad. Teach the players how to defend a set piece and who knows what could happen. I'm sure there must be more options out there than just Howe, there really should be more but there are so many foreign managers that the English/British ones just aren't getting the chances.

(FYI, I voted remain and fully support the freedom of movement and allowing foreigners in to the country to work and I am well aware that everything I've said above goes against that but we're not talking about a plasterer on a building site, this is a £4m+ a year job managing one of the top clubs in the country.)

His first season is alright and acceptable. 7th.

Mate I don't care if you think it is "rediculous" its my opinion on it! I can't help that. I don't accept abject failure even over one game. People pay their hard earned money to go an watch it. It is gross negligence to me. It was also years ago so it doesn't matter!

Oh and he did have money that season. He bought James Beattie to play up front on his own, meanwhile dropping Bent who was making the system work in the first place.

Pal this doesn’t make sense. Moyes failed the least out of the 6 managers we had since 2000s.

Why do people keep doing this?

MY version of abject failure is getting beat 7-0. It doesn't matter what he did before or after that because I am a person who would sack someone after a 7-0 hammering.

I have said countless times now that I realize this is not exactly a normal mindset but that is how I feel.

So in that context it makes absolute sense.

What are people not getting here? I do not accept 7-0 hammerings and I do not give a toss who is in charge or the circumstances surrounding it. Once that happens your card is marked with me.

Dunno, if City won 7 0 on Wednesday and won the league on goal diff by one ahead of Liverpool i would say a 7 0 loss was acceptable. Its all about circumstances.

As time goes on Moyes gets more and more redemption for me, since then we have looked lost, no matter how much £££ we throw at it

Depends what you want though. He could still be here to this day and we would have remained in the same place as when he was here. I just class them all as losers personally, hopefully we get a winner soon.

Agree on this, to be honest i think it why we need to re think who we go for, going for a mid-table manager and staying mid-table is just boring, its why i think at least if we went for a less experience manager we might be willing to give him more time, going into a season knowing you are going to be poor is just sole destroying
