If we go down, how do you start the rebuild?

I could be wrong re strikers but I’m sure I read that Brentford and Peterborough in particular (both have an excellent record of turning big profits on strikers) usually look to young players near the top of the L1/L2 scoring charts. CBA checking who that would be this season but it’d be refreshing to see us take a similar approach rather than reverting to our trick of trying to buy someone who is already rattling them in at that level for (comparatively) big money.

I think if we go down we need to rid the club of anyone associated with the relegation.

We cant afford to wallow and I think its an insult for them to remain at the club.

I say that harshly on Lampard but I don't want anyone here next season to be tarred with being associated with an Everton relegation.

Not so sure they would give him the wages he’s on here.
Think he isn’t the type to agitate for a move as well.

He’d be pivotal to getting us back up IMO. Would stand out at that level.

I actually left Doucoure off my list of who I expect to leave, but there would be plenty of suiters for him, I don't think that would be the problem.

Don't think he would ask for a move, but I think our financial position and everything any offer which would be decent will be 100% considered by the club should we go down.

I'd start with this pre-season training regime.

Ensure that the current board are replaced and make it clear to Moshiri that he needs to sell and let someone else have a go.

Replace the current board with people with experience in football, and in how to run a football club in a financially prudent way.

All focus should turn towards the current club board and owner - this is their responsibility and nothing less than resignations and apologies is acceptable.

Sell pretty much everyone that someone will take. Make sure out wage budget is reduced substantially so we are compliant to EFL financial rules.

Build with experienced centre backs, an experienced keeper, an experienced central midfielder and young players in all other positions.

Let Lampard stay on and build a side. Accept that it will take a few years. Accept that the club won't be fixed overnight. Accept that we have no divine right to win every week in the championship and will have to earn it like everyone else.

Overhaul the academy and allow pathways. Make sure that the 3rd string in every position is a youth player and not someone well past their best.

Make sure we have the right coaches at every level, who are instructed how to play from above so there is a joined up approach.

Stay at Goodison if at all possible. The stadium is going to be something we simply cannot afford if we are not a top flight club.
I agree with all of that except the stadium bit….

I quickly worked out if we got rid of

Mina 120k p/w
Gomes 110k p/w
Pickford 100k p/w
Allan 100k p/w
Sigurdsson 100k p/w
Richarlison 90k p/w
DCL 70k p/w
Delph 70k p/w
Keane 60k p/w
Tosun 60k p/w
Kenny 35k p/w
Gbamin 50k p/w

It only equates to about £50million, and thats before you even look at having to replace these players.
Although we would supplement that probably for transfer fees for one or two of them
The last accounts wage bill would have also included:
Hamaz 220
Digne 150
Bolasie 60?
Walcott 100
King 60?
Besic 30?

Plus Carlo was on around 12m a year.

Although it still doesn't touch the sides and that is nearly all the top earners off the books. We must be missing something because I'm not sure how we get to 180m, if I'm honest?
