Injury compensation claims

Does anyone have any advice on how to claim on 'small' injuries when injured to lack of health and safety?

Basically, this morning I was on the train - I went to go to the toilet and there was a metal panel hanging down from the ceiling of the train. It was very thin so pretty hard to see, and there was no sign mentioning it etc. and it was purposely opened due to maintenance. I whacked my head on it, cut it.. blood everywhere and ive had two stitches and a tetunos jab. I pretty much feel ok but the docs said no screen time for 2 days, so I won't be working. They filed in an incident form etc but didn't really say that would happen next. I got a pic of the injury and I guess there might be a loss of earnings thing plus health and safety.

Is the best way to go through the train company first, say no to the first offer, wait for the second and go to ombudsman if not happy?
@edge works on the railways I believe. He’s trying to take your pension edge mate

Did you ask them to record in their accident book?
Did you go & get medical treatment?
All necessary if you want to cliam if you are in trade union use them - do not go bo win no fee !
Or take pain killers & forget it -
Any witnesses did you take photos of the toilet the other ject that hurt you etc. .plus your injuries?
If you have household legal cover you could use them if you have evidence of the above !

He can take what he likes off the company 😏
To be honest the days of big claims are mostly over, my lad works on a law firm that deals with a lots of them, surprised at the payouts for whiplash ect it's not like it used to be.
I would go to the union solicitor , write to the company themselves with your account of the accident, pictures. Expenses ect, they might just deal with him and make an offer.
Make sure you keep your ticket as well as they will ask for proof you were travelling with a valid ticket.
to be honest loads say they have fell over ect , the companies don't give a walk over very often havnt for years.
