Is there something wrong with our players?

I've said it before. We have a team consisting of the following:

Committed / not committed
Talented / no talent.

Unfortunately, the majority of our team are in the not committed camp. With many of them also in the no talent camp. The worst ones for me are those who are not committed but have the talent. It's painful.

We showed against Arsenal that we could do it. Everyone put a shift in. Even if you're a poor footballer, pressing and closing down is HUGE. Any player can do it. But for the majority of games, they can't be bothered to press, intimidate, do anything. So much of it comes down to wanting the ball, wanting to win and our players don't have it.

On ability, they’re top half quality. Ravaged with injuries, mid-table. On current application and effort, relegation fight. They’re largely apathetic and it shows.

One of our biggest issues is none of our players know what their doing with the ball until after they receive it.

Every player goes:
Touch,
Touch again (because the first touch was bad),
Look around,
Touch,
Touch,
Realise nothings on,
Pass backwards.

How are you supposed to break down a team playing like that, hell how are you supposed to keep hold of the damn ball playing like that?

We have zero patterns of play, we don't do any triangles we just get it to the fullbacks and hope they can knock it down the line or pass it back to pickford to hoof it. We really are a pathetic football club. We have had the one owner who doesn't have a clue how football works and now hes managed to get in a new owner who's the only billionaire who doesn't have a clue about football but they both think they do know about football so won't get anyone in to help them.

Tbh the football is just a distraction and they are keen to get home to the mansion and PlayStation. If they played to anything like their potential they might have 10-20 more games to endure, including some abroad. All hassle.

What happens when your club doesn’t have a plan in place for the type of player they want, also because we have hired so many managers with “different styles” also it appears we are a cosy club with no ambition to do anything

It says a lot about this team when we’re relying on DCL to be fit and save our season. A team of really poor, average and downright useless footballers.

Have you not heard? DCL hasn’t played for 3 months, but in that time has morphed into the second coming of Christ / Ronaldo and Lionel Messi combined.

It blows my mind when I watch how unathletic our team are considering the fact they're potentially on PED's as well.... How can you be on that sweet PL nutrition and still stumble around the pitch like Rondon?

1) Athleticism is a given in the EPL
2)Technical ability is clearly the scale that divides the individual winners from the losers
3) Motivation is what divides the team that wins to the ones that lose

All our players lack some or all three.

I just think the merry go round of managers with different styles of play all being allowed to buy their own players has created a miss-mash of a team that just doesn’t work. No identity whatsoever & filled with average players, not even hard working ones that Moyes had.

Moyes had time to put his team together and add 1-2 players each season. We just haven’t done that in the last 5 years.
