Is there something wrong with our players?

I love Hibbo, one of us

This mess is going to take ages to sort out, I don’t even know what the solution is. Nobody wants relegation but that’s where we’re heading. At the minute I can’t see this getting any better as we have a mismatched bunch who are un-coachable. Do we scout the championship for decent gritty players who would love the chance of premier league football so will give it their all or do we stick to this shower of shizzle.

TBF I don’t think it does - all it will take is the right person coming in and setting a standard that all at the club are expected to exceed.

That is what Teeth did at the RS and it’s the main reason they are where they are; from the players to the pharmacist they either perform brilliantly or they are removed and someone else gets their chance.

Andre Gomes was voted the worst player to ever play for Barcelona by their own supporters.

Came, had a good 6 months and reverted to sort.

You can have slow players in your side but you need to aid them with pace, we have none of that.

We don’t move off the ball (haven’t for years either), don’t want the ball and stand off every side.
The bit about moving off the ball is funny.
I’m 29 now, my first season ticket was when I was 11 and been going with my dad ever since.
I always remember my dad going on about how static all the players were and they didn’t move. When I was younger I didn’t fully understand what it meant in terms of the game and then understood as I got a grip of the game.

I’ve never really seen us remedy it. I can’t remember a time in all those years where we had a coherent team with a central midfield that consistently came to receive the ball and turned a movement into an attack. There’s probably some bias in there somewhere but I watched Andre Gomes (not to single him out) on Sunday when Godfrey had the ball and all he had to do was drop 5 yards and ask for the ball and open up some space and he stayed marked. Seen it in many guises over the years but it never really seems to improve

What baffles me is that sides like Brighton and Palace have been able to completely change their style of play in one season with very little additions.

That's means they have unskilled most of their long term players to play with possession.

This isn't a Rafael rant but our current group of players has never been able to play in possession even when it was drilled into them with previous managers, so we can take charge of a game playing supposed lower standing teams.

What's wrong with them? Yes there has been managers that prefer sitting deep as a philosophy but if we play a fulham or Norwich or Crystal Palace for that matter surely we can't sit deep against these types of sides? We allow them to think they are outplaying us? Possession ultimately leads to pressure

The whole point is to switch to being deep against a man city but turning it on against a burnley but our players seem incapable of holding onto the ball? And if we do, it's like watching paint dry

I think Potter's been there about 3-4 years and made around 20 signings over that time. I don't think that's a complete change with very little addition.

Palace have made a similar number of signings over the same period and while there has been a change to a more attacking style they aren't overly consistent in their ability to play in that manner and it's still a bumpy work in progress rather than a complete change under Viera.

The current group of players do sometimes look good on the ball. Rare glimpses but there are times when they can move the ball quickly and accurately and retain possession. I couldn't tell you for sure why they are so inconsistent with it but high managerial turnover and the subsequent haphazard recruitment probably has a lot to do with it.

Their attitude has stunk for year's but it comes from the top an acceptance of defeat and we now have another Fat Sam a manager who is utterly negative who plays up to being under dogs who won't take any responsibility for defeat after defeat. Who sets us up against Palace like we are a division one side.

One of our biggest issues is none of our players know what their doing with the ball until after they receive it.

Every player goes:
Touch,
Touch again (because the first touch was bad),
Look around,
Touch,
Touch,
Realise nothings on,
Pass backwards.

How are you supposed to break down a team playing like that, hell how are you supposed to keep hold of the damn ball playing like that?

We have zero patterns of play, we don't do any triangles we just get it to the fullbacks and hope they can knock it down the line or pass it back to pickford to hoof it. We really are a pathetic football club. We have had the one owner who doesn't have a clue how football works and now hes managed to get in a new owner who's the only billionaire who doesn't have a clue about football but they both think they do know about football so won't get anyone in to help them.
Spot on
A bunch of dustbins would run rings around us

Agree and a manager who isn't implementing any kind of possession or patterns of play.

Brighton and Palace have better players than us, ancelotti, or at least players with better attifude who will work hard and don't want to loose.

You get the I impression that losses don't really bother our players.
