"Everton target Ishak Belfodil remains on course to join the Blues despite last-ditch talks with his agent delaying the deal.

The Standard Liege forward had been expected to arrive on Merseyside for a medical today, but is still currently in Spain at the Belgian club's winter training camp.

Everton have agreed a £10.5m fee with Standard after Steve Walsh identified him as the man to help support Romelu Lukaku.

But the ECHO understands that late wrangling with the player's representative have paused the transfer going through.

Who is Everton target Ishak Belfodil?
It is believed the issues do not represent a fatal stumbling block to the deal, which is still likely to go through in the next 48 hours.

The 25-year-old only joined Liege in the summer and has had a nomadic career, including spells with Lyon, Bologna, Parma, Inter Milan, Livorno and Baniyas in the United Arab Emirates."

From the bits I've seen he has qualities. If we can simplify his game and just have him do the things he's good at could be a great partner for Rom.

He is 25?

I thought he was a young guy.

That is a bit old for a player to be largely unknown to those among our our friends on here whom are well up on world footballers.

If this is the true figure then he's going to be an expensive gamble in a part of the pitch (the final third) where we struggle (even though some will say £10m is nothing these days in footy) if it's the £3/4m that has also been touted, then probably worth having a look at him, still need that extra quality coming in though.

In this market 10m is around 4m. So not really that much of a gamble.

On these type of signings I trust Walsh massively.

He will provide us with what we need, he wont score a shedload of goals, so ya dar will prolly label him a flop, but its all about the little things.
