Win our next two games, and there's a very good chance we will be in 4th in a week and a halfs time.

Remember hearing the exact same thing in December when we hosted Sunderland.

Just think it's premature in the extreme to be talking about 4th. If we beat Arsenal and take the next 9 points on offer, we can start to talk about it as somewhat possible ahead of Palace and United. But even then, realistically we have to be going into the United game with at the very least 9 or 10 points from the 12 on offer before that in the bag to even start this discussion.

Its mathematically possible so until its not, its most certainly 'ON'.
None of this 'Oh these have easier fixtures' business. Arsenal and Arsenal fans would have expected to win tonight against Swansea, they never. Football is massively unpredictable. 5th is where i reckon we will finish, but this negativity is astounding. Until its mathematically impossible, i have a small hope that we can finish fourth.

There's a difference between mathematically being in the mix and talking realistically about it! It's not negative to acknowledge we're rank outsiders for 4th - and looking at the run-in sensibly we're even outsiders for 5th. Arsenal and United at home, City away, and Spurs have nothing whatsoever after Liverpool, who I actually expect Spurs to beat.

It's not negative to not dream about minor miracles - it'd be negative if I was dismissing something that was entirely practical.

1 game at a time lads, Fulham away is all that matters. Little or no point saying we should win that game or this game. Very few expected Arsenal to draw with Swansea.

Let's not forget Cardiff, Wba, Norwich and Palace away, games we all expected to win... Fulham and Sunderland look easy enough fixtures on paper, but they are both fighting for their lives and we have a miserable record at both venues...

Ah screw this ... Its in the bag ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ OHHHHHH

So lets have a look at the maths.

Spurs are on 56 points. They've played 31 games. That means they have a total of 21 points left to play for.

Tubey says we'll probably need 19 points to get 5th. That means Spurs will get 75 points by his reckoning, because if we get 19 points we'll finish on 76.

That means Spurs will get 20 points from their remaining 21 points available..... despite him saying that they'll probably lose to Liverpool meaning the most they could possibly get is 18 points.

76 points to finish 5th ?

Just how strong is that super glue you've rammed up your nose like ?

Look at Spurs' run in and you'll see what I mean. I have them and Arsenal finishing on 74 points, give or take 3 points either way to boost one or the other into 4th and the other into 5th/6th depending on our form - and arguably Uniteds.

It could very possibly take 75 points this season to finish 5th. The difference between the top six or seven and the rest of the league has been more pronounced this year than ever before.

We've got City at home mate

Well I believe that if we win 6 out of the 8 (providing we beat Arsenal) we'll be right in the mix. People accused Moyes of having no ambition, yet here we are looking at winning 6 out of 8 getting us in the champ's league. That HAS to be the ambition in this situation. 6 games! We have to go for it.

But I do agree we're outsiders. We've got excited before and ultimately fell short (apart from 05). So lets just keep our heads down and enjoy the ride, eh. Whatever, it's been a top season

12/1 before Newcastle game, 9/2 after Newcastle game, it wil be 5/2 after Fulham and odds on after arsenal game. Time to get the money down to pay for these expensive Wednesday European trips lads

Hate to be negative here, but it's not. All tonight does is give us a better chance of 5th, but if you look at the respective run ins, you have to fully expect us to finish 6th. Spurs could and perhaps should win every single game after the Liverpool match as the run in is as good as they could want. We'd need 19 points from the 24 available to secure 5th IMO, and probably 21-22 to have any shot whatsoever at 4th. So we're talking losing only to Man City and not dropping silly points in our 4 remaining away games, when we've only won 1 away game in 2014.

I'm delighted with how the season has gone, but aiming for anything beyond 5th is wishing upon a star at this point.

Spurs have Stoke away mate, you honestly see them winning that? West ham already destroyed them once at WHL and the return fixtures no walk in the park either, and they have a home game against a Villa side who play well vs the better sides away, and the rs away as well, not exactly easy points at all in any of those games mate

Atm theirs no game I'd say was easy for Arsenal either as their form has completely gone to pot since the rs ripped them apart, plus they do have the added factor of the cup semi which taxes their squad a bit more still

Christ you really can be a blert at times - there's absolutely zero need for the tittishness on show in that post whatsoever.

I didn't say any of that at all - I said I can see Spurs dropping three points in the run in, which would mean 18 points taking them to 74 points, so I said we'd need around 76 points to finish above them which, ignoring Arsenal, would definitely be enough to finish 5th.

I'm not sure what fixture list you're looking at.

They play Sunderland, West Brom, and Fulham who will all be fighting for their lives. They go to Stoke which is a very hard place to get three points from, then they have West Ham away who will also be in and around the relegation zone.

They've got an easier run in than we have but to suggest they should be expecting to win every game after Liverpool is just absurd. It really is.

They will not win six games in a row.
