Ivan Toney

Its open to interpritation!
For example, Toney used to play for Peterbrough and i'm guessing still has ffiends there.
He could easily get insider information of an injury or manager rotation or even worse, know a player whos prepared to take a booking for a few extra quid.

I think the ban is harsh considering what other players have got for racism or violent conduct in the past.

10-12 games would of sufficed, i think thats what Trippier got!

I think the most common form of insider knowledge, is transfers mate and players using third parties to put bets on for them. so`s the bets don`t come back to them.

One happened in 1964 and it was a betting ring/scandal that enforced change of the actual rules regarding betting and insider influence. It was harsh, but also it was about 60 years ago like lol also about 10 players were jailed and never played in England again; Kay went on to more crime as well.

The other was 1 player having a betting problem with no (public) proof of what and how exactly the betting occurred. If he was sitting at home with a betting app on his phone - how do you even compare?

Andros Townsend was also banned for a bit for betting. Shock and horror when he wasn't in jail or hanged and quartered.

It is a joke of a sentence for Toney here but only because the FA waited until the season was over and Brentford were safe for literally no reason. Should've investigated and banned him ASAP to make a statement.
Kay got the rawest of raw deals basically "pour encourager Les autres" (not to do what ever)
Toney got a slap on the wrist...and probably thinks he's a bit hard done by

60 yrs on and, as you say, different times.
2 poor decisions by both Kay and the FA - But 2 'wrongs'  still don't make a 'right'

What's your opinion on our own Andros Townsend then?

Didn't about 10 players get banned for life by the FA? Most worked outside the game for the rest of their lives, so they all got the rawest deals in reality.

He got what amounted to a lightish version of the standard punishment for the times we live in

They got probably the harshest version of the standard harsh punishment of the times  they lived in.

Sometimes the Injustice of Justice just annoys me

Fair. My question wasn't a dig btw, just asking really, sorry if it looked like that.

What annoys me here is the tardiness in delivery of said justice when it's always been much quicker. The punishment itself is so-so really.

I've seen people on twitter saying that the prem are petitioning UEFA trying to get them to ban him from playing elsewhere in Europe too. Make a farce of the whole thing if he just gets sold to a team on the continent and cracks on like

Let's put this in context. Suarez only got an 8 game ban for racially abusing Evra
I get that and in the moral sense Suarez's is far worse of an offence, but you could also say you're comparing apples and oranges.

One directly impacts on one player (or players) during one match, whereas the other has the potential to impact on the integrity of an entire competition.

Someone could take a bung to impact a game, which robs a club of a competition - costing lots - or could have an adverse affect such as relegation.

Now, I'm not saying Tony has done any of those, but the potential is there hence the perceived draconian punishments that come with betting.

Think of Hans Segers against Wimbledon for example; while it benefited us, I think it's fair to say that the winning goal is more than suspect.

That sent Ipswich down that day, so what could that have cost them in terms of money, reputation and whatnot over years and years? It's a domino effect.

The rules are there for a reason.

yeah I get all that.

As I think you know I was looking at it from a moralistic view.
