Jackson dies.

Come on Ste, you might have a point that since Jackson was never convicted, we can't say for sure he was guilty. But, the stories that came out, really did show that he had an odd and extremely disconcerting relationship with young boys. It's really quite obvious why many people tend to think he sexually abused those boys. I think to a number of people, myself included, he seemed about as guilty of child molestation as did OJ Simpson did of murder.

Jackson's profile was examined by mental health professional Dr. Stan Katz, the doctor spent several hours with the accuser too. The assessment made by Katz was that Jackson had become a regressed 10-year-old and did not fit the profile of a pedophile. In my opinion, those that accused him of sexual acts against young boys, simply came from manipulating families after everything they could get, including public limelight. Nothing was ever proven and if Jackson had have lived until 100, nothing would have ever been proven still. He was merely a peter pan character who grew stranger during his lifetime under the strains of early abuse he suffered, and being put through stressful accusations that drove him into taking painkillers and harder drugs.

He was never allowed a normal life , even as a kid....not suprised it affected him later on. He never grew up .

I agree. It messed him up and he became stranger, and stranger as he 'grew up'. I still honestly believe he was not guilty of any child molestation, but that doesn't mean I didn't think he became a weirdo.

Hmmm. It seems Jackson traded rather much on his peculiar childhood. What a great, ready-made excuse for all his deviant behaviour: "Not responsible M'Lud, I had a peculiar childhood."

So I suppose that since Jackson wasn't responsible for his behaviour regarding his pathological desire for young lads, he likewise wasn't responsible for the "amazing" music he made. Stuff just happened to him, no doubt! Let's all blame his father.

jackson's excuse was that he regressed to a 10 year old?

i know when i was 10 years old i didn't want to sleep in the same bed as my mate.

That was'nt his excuse, that is how a professional man diagnosed him.

The thing, with psychology, is that it's hardly a perfect science. Your man Katz might do rather well out of his "profession", but every position he holds dear will be questioned by other professionals, including other psychologists, social scientists, philosophers and medical doctors. In other words, the view proposed by Katz that Jackson regressed to a 10 year old child is at best an opinion.

It is very sad all this, Elvis's music isn't remembered for the drug addicted racist that made it. Lennons music is not remembered for being made by an arrogant prat that walked out on his son. Jackson will forever be tainted with the spectre of child molestation and so will his music.
Double standards all over everywhere. Human condition I suppose. Grim.

Not really, mate. I don't think you can equate the above with the alleged crimes of Jackson.

That is the thing though isn't it. Jackson was never found to be guilty, the other two were very definitely. I believe Jackson had been up to no good for a number of years with adolescents, but only his music is tainted. The other twos legacy continues untarnished.

I suppose the other two were guilty of things that were not illegal. But you're correct, both had unsavoury sides to them. Jackson is another kettle of fish. If not guilty, it appears that he was an arrogant little twerp, that thought his petty desires were worthy of disobeying all those social pressures that the rest of us obey (sleeping with children). If guilty, then he committed heinous crimes and should have been serving hard time. All in all, I think he comes out of the comparison with Lennon and Presley, quite badly.

But I get your point, mate. Lennon and Presley do seem to escape the sort of treatment they might deserve. I suppose that's showbiz. To be fair to Elvis, he had the voice of an angel. To be fair to Lennon, he was part of the best white pop band the world has seen.
