Transfer Rumour Jaden Philogene

His performances have been mixed. Got turned inside out and fell on his @rse a few weeks back and was dropped to the bench for a couple of games while they went back to their league 1 centre halves.

Ipswich’ signings

Dara O’Shea 15m
Liam Delap 20m
Omari Hutchinson 18m
Jacob Greaves 15m
Arijanet Muric 15m
Conor Townsend 500k
Sammie Szmodics 10m
Jack Clarke 18m
Chiedozie Ogbene 8m
Jayden Philogene 21m

145 million pounds sterling and counting. That’s horrendous recruitment.

It’s all the best or most productive players from the Championship last season mate, they have a clear strategy they are recruiting to compete with the likes of us, but if they loose out they are building to come straight back up. If they need to someone is giving the 40-50+ mill in the summer for Delap.

To be fair we also can’t throw stones at anyone about horrendous recruitment.

They could probably get £50m for Delap now? No idea on the others as infernally steer clear of motd……

City have a 30 million buy back clause so that’ll be the maximum Ipswich will receive. If his value exceeds that and another club wants to offer 50 million for him, City will simply activate the buy back, and sell him on again and profit another 20 million themselves.

Yes point taken about our recruitment, but giving Burnley 30 million for O’Shea and Muric when you’ve just come up is unforgivable. They’re clearly gambling here, but this current level of spending is unsustainable for a club with little in the way of commercial income and one of the smaller match day revenues. PSR must surely become an issue in the season’s so come.

Haha 15M for that keeper is horrendous.

Said hours ago we hadn’t and said journalists have gone well early, now confirmed by Ornstien that we haven’t even bid

That’s encouraging because from what I read he can play either side but is mainly left , we need an out and out right winger, preferably with pace and a decent return on assists/goals. This is where good scouting comes in.

It’s not sustainable mate, which is why as a promote. you have to establish and capitalise on the increase in your revenue in year 1 by spending. You have to try and be a Brentford or Forest, maybe even Brighton those few years back now, invest, establish and plateau or you do as by your own example Burnley sell the Murics or O Sheas of this world back to who ever passes you, Ogbene was at Luton last year to. They are hedging their bets in both outcomes - trying to progress the clubs for both outcomes.

I think they are more than fine to be honest. The huge revenue increase means they huge headroom to spend and if they go back down they get 35 mill more then anyone else down there with assets to sell.

According to Swiss Ramble they can lose c £36m this yr and be compliant. Dependent on contract length, they’re probably ok given existing wages v new TV deals?

It’s a strange link because he’s definitely a left winger. One of those that can “do a job” on the right, but much less effective there. Harrison’s best work has always been on the left, but gets shoehorned to the right where he’s proven to be terrible. McNeil’s best position is on the left, Ndiaye is currently being played on the left. So why when we’re desperate for a legitimate right winger, would we go for another left winger? Makes no sense. Why can’t we sign a right winger who plays his best football on the right wing, and is a right winger by trade, instead of players who play better elsewhere but can “do a job on the right”?
