Jags!

If they were that good - why are they being linked with our players?

Rodwell, Pienaar and Jagielka in that order.....

Every team looks to strengthen during a transfer window. Arsenal have been better than us for the last 20 years. How can you say they're [Poor language removed]? It's not about individual players but about a team. We have good players, but they do too. Are you telling me you wouldn't like Van Persie, or Fabregas, or Arshavin, or perhaps Vermaelen, Nasri, Wiltshire, or perhaps Walcott, Eduardo, Denilson etc etc. Would that make us [Poor language removed]? They are superb. They play superb football, and like us, are not able to spend big money each year.

I wouldn't take a single one of those players. Not one.

I'm sure we'd sign players if we could, that's part of football, they'll still finish ahead of us like they do year in year out.

Didn't I read on here that whole idea was scrapped?

That was the FIFA 6+5 rules.

Something completely different Danny

The 8/25 UEFA and Premier League rules does not contravene the EU employment laws OR UK discrimination law.

As it makes NO MENTION OF NATIONALITY. It also allows non UK nationals to "acquire" homegrown status - the 6+5 rules didn't.

It's also in force Danny. As of this season

Hence the unlimited U21 players that can be added to the 25 man squad. 8 of which had to have spent 3 years at a British club before the age of 21.

Ah.

Back to Jags, what type of bid would you all think would be acceptable?

I think given how important this season is - because the UEFA Fair Play (Club Finance) regs are coming in 2013....

I think we'll tell them to go hang. Even if they came back with 30m+

If Everton win silverware and/or get a Champions League spot this year. This could seriously set us up for the next 10 years.

Its analogous to defeating relegation twice in the 1990's.

That almost broke the club.

This time we could really make the club... if we do what we intend this season.

* Edit - purely because unlike 2004/2005 - our squad IS so much higher in quality. And all our rivals know it too.

As I was saying:

Its all to do with the 25 man rule

Meanwhile, Wenger has hinted that he may look to move a few players on this summer, with new Premier League regulations stipulating that top flight sides must work with 25-man squads, with eight of those players having to qualify as home-grown.

"We have to respect this rule, so with players coming in, that means players going out at well," he said.

"I am not too much for rules, I believe what is important is the quality.

"The Premier League is the most watched league in the world, and you only get that if you focus on quality more than on artificial rules.

"I do not believe the fact that England did not win the World Cup is linked with that."

The big nosed blert knows he has to make changes in order to meet the 8/25 rules...

But unfortunately for him. Jags ain't for sale. ESPECIALLY for such a ridiculously low amount. (y)

Let them squirm.

BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR EVERTON. As in going for it this season.
