It was me who said that, but yes I agree with you. Our debt is much lower than our "contemporaries". In the present that doesn't do us much good, but hopefully soon not spending as much will give us the edge.
Its all relative, whatever the debt is and it is managable at the moment it puts boundires on us - the trick is to increase turnover which means we can add to our cost base. I think we have increased our cost base this year with the new contracts - which in all likely hood has drained any budget on new players, or budgets we have seen in recent years.
Many people think the board go to David Moyes and say you have 10 mill to spend when in essence they go tot the manager and say you have 50mill to spend inclusive of wages, it is then up to Moyes to decide how he wishes to spend it, he then decides to improve terms of existing players, offer new deals etc - anything left over goes on trnsfer fees and taking over new wages.
I'm sure if any other "model" club's you're holding up - the massive indebted or soon to be ones - had the injuries we had last season, they'd have done the same.
Squads are limited to 25 this year and unlimited U21.
With 8 in the 25 HOME GROWN (i.e. 3+years under 21 at a British club ) .
Squad strengthening indeed.... ITS BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR US.
And as for the UEFA Financial Fair Play regs in 2013 coming in - we're in transition period now.
Many many clubs will have to curtail spending. As there are loss limits in place.
But again - business as usual for Everton.
These other clubs will have to come back to reality soon.... and thats why this season is SO important for Everton Football Club.
Probably the most important since we avoided relegation in the 1990's but for opposite reasons. Getting a trophy / Champions League
It could set us up for the next decade.

Many people think the board go to David Moyes and say you have 10 mill to spend on new players when in essence, its far more complicated, they go to the manager and say you have 50-60mill to spend inclusive of wages, it is then up to Moyes to decide how he wishes to spend it, he then decides to improve terms of existing players, offer new deals etc - anything left over goes on transfer fees and taking on new wages of a new player out of his budget.
Cheers man, I have a natural gift for absolute tosh.
I really hope this is the case. Hopefully there will be a bit of karma and city's antics won't hold up forever.
Haha.
Definitely mate, but in regards to the supposed £16 mil offer, offloading jags and bringing in a top striker or something wouldn't affect the wages or anything. It could be the equivalent of a straight swap. Hopefully though, between the Yak, Saha and the new boys, we'll have enough goals in the team.
He won't get even play every game at arsenal as he would here. He's not lescott so who says he even wants to leave?
id bite their hands off for 15m. jags is an over rated hoofballer
All about opinions mate, but i would think having a top defender is more a priority then a top forward we didnt have a prob scoring goals last season - actually when you drill down into it, it was a pretty good season scoring wise in comparrison to others.
We had a massive problem conceading though and thats my prob with letting either Jags or Yobo go, both have proven they are capable of keeping 20 odd clean sheets a season. As much as it isnt popular to say it Lescotts departure was a blow we never recovered from last season.
you cant win anything with kids and thats a fact.
I'd agree with that, but I think we have a top defender in Heitinga. I get the impression only one of Jags and Heitinga will be at CB at any given time, and Heitinga has proven his competence. I'm not saying that means Jags is expendable, it just means losing him wouldn't be the end of the world. In fact, for £16 million, it could be a decent thing.
Jonny hasnt proven himself at centre half for me yet! I think there are a lot of frailties in his game there. I want to give him the benifit of the doubht and i watched him closely at the WC - yet that did nothing to change my opinion. I love full his blooded committed aproach, but for me though hes no where in the class of Yobo, Jags or Lescott at centre half, YET.

Well that's your opinion, but I think he's a step up from Yobo for sure. He's as good as Lescott and Jags for me. He's different, but he's a better passer of the ball and more versatile. Makes less mistakes than Lescott I think. Jags is a better defender, in terms of defending (less mistakes, better tackles), but Heitinga's distribution is excellent.
I've dreamt of seeing them partner up, but with Davie's preference for left footed LCBs, I can't see it happening.
Anyway, the defensive problems we had last year weren't down to any individual player. It was the constant forced rotations and inherent lack of chemistry. I read an interview with Distin and he said one time Jags told him to "kick it home", and he wasn't sure if he meant up the field or back to the keeper. Just an example, but you get my point. Lescott and Jags worked not only because of their individual attributes, but their understanding and the time they had to work on that understanding.
