Let's be honest like, even if we manage to keep hold of Branthwaite this summer, he's not likely to be here for much longer and also we were incredibly lucky last season that Tarkowski and Branthwaite largely avoided injury all season. We might not be that lucky this season. Think signing a potential 1st choice CB now before our hand is forced by whenever the Branthwaite thing happens is a good idea. Nobody here wants to see Holgate or Keane on the pitch for a single minute this season if it can be helped.
Looks better than trying to show horn what we have into a 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 in my opinion at least.
The four across the midfield is the worry, neither McNeil or Harrison have any pace so you'd have to figure they'd end up positionally more in a wing back starting position dropping into a back 5 a lot of the time, would put huge pressure on Gueye and Garner that.
We need to look at it different...we're bringing in quality competition, keeps everyone on their toes.Ladi s going to have a tough gig breaking to JT and Branthwaite (hopefully).

Having the likes of Keane and Holgate as back up isn't good enough.
He'll have assurances about game time.

That stirring of the pot might be a bit subtle for some on here @davekJust taken a look at a few of his youtube videos. He looks a prospect. Quick for sure. He reminds me of Branthwaite a bit in that he looks unflustered. He can pick out a long pas. But I think he does look a bit scruffy in terms of his tackling at times. The PL can be unforgiving if you're not clean as a whistle with tackles - and even then on occasion it makes no differences with some officials.
I'd be happy to see him come in and learn the ropes off Tarkowski, but I dont think he could be started this season - although the price being paid suggests he will and that he'll be Tarkowski's CB partner from the off.

He was a little too fond of a certain black alcoholic drinkA lot of personal problems cleared up as he matured away from here mate.
When they did he became a top player.
I think he better than a bottom half Mike, as far as actual defending goes he is one of the best in the league, he just doesnt have the finesse of say a Stones or Branthwaite (I mean he isn't easy on the eye) , very really does he lose an aerial dual in either box and puts his body on the line all the time. Also I don’t see why Tarkowski can’t be improved upon. To me he’s an average but dependable bottom half Premier League defender, people seem to go on like he’s prime John Terry and his place in the team is set in stone. If this lad is an improvement on him then he should come into the team.
Dyche said yesterday he should be back training in about a week. So worst case should hopefully only be 1 or 2 matches that Tarkowski misses. If he signs, I suspect he starts the season with Tarkowski missing.
