Confirmed Signing Jake O'Brien

No. We have signed this bloke.

Oh got it, so you would have prioritised a backup to DCL and I'm assuming a starting right back (relegating the three we have further down) ahead of O'Brien.

Fair enough, it's your opinion. I'd rather not be an injury away from having to play Keane as a starter tbh

Well I'd rather not start any of our RB's regardless of their fitness than a potential future if our CB's are out.

Seem to be collecting a set of lookalikes here

Why shouldn't United fans question why their academy scouts weren't watching NW youth football???
Have you ever heard of hindsight? There's 100s of players to chose from who will all look very very similar. Ridiculous to blame a scouting team for missing out on one player. For every Branthewaite we have signed there have been loads for others who have been absolute trash.

Well I think Seamus has worked with him and was actively involved in getting him here. I would imagine if there is one position our manager would know a bit about it might be centre half. He was making waves over here in ROI a few months back, so I think we may have a decent player coming in.
The price is fairly good imo, look at it over his 5 year contract, it will feel better, and let's get it straight we've wasted far more money over the last 8 years probably than any other club in the country.
So I look forward to see him playing for us and I wouldn't be so certain he's bought as back up either.

The lad is going to be special with a surname like O’Brien (same as me :p).

Looks a decent player and noticed he popped up with a few goals last season from set-pieces - a Sean Dyche wet dream. Smart to make the move now and forward plan with an eye on Jarrad’s eventual departure down the road. Big upgrade on the likes of Keane and Holgate in the case of injury or suspension to the first-choice pair.

The fee is not bad at all. Just hope there are more additions to come. Gnonto followed by a CM. New forward only if/when any of Dom/Beto/Maupay leaves.

I'll tell you what mate, Dixon didn't do himself any harm at all yesterday. Hopefully he gets another chance to impress against Coventry on Tuesday.

Dixon looking promising, Patterson who looks to have done some serious work in the off season on his physicality, Coleman who can still play - just about, and let's not think about young.

Still think we need one more option there, previously said a Godfrey type would be a good addition (but better) and even with O'Brien signing I still think the swiss lad I've harped on about would be a good option. Really opens up a back three as a viable strategy too.

May seen overload at CB - but jeans next season we'd essentially have what we expect to be Jarrod going already covered.

Yep, he was one of the very few good signs from yesterday.

He's stood out once he moved up to the u21s and the only question about him was can he learn the tactical/positional side of the game and match that with his undoubted energy and speed to get up and down.

He's had a fair few injuries but last season was quite consistent. Pace wise alone he'd offer something as a full back we've probably never seen, but defensively it's a huge step up.

I hope we see a lot more of him in the coming games, I'd love him to grab this opportunity with both hands and make it impossible for Dyche not to consider him an option
