Which is no surprise given his lack of game time here. The alternative CB options for Ireland are not exactly Branthwaite levels.Not called up for Ireland, again

Have you watched him for Ireland? There are lads that have never seen him play in this thread just demanding he play because it's one of those 'whatever the manager doesn't do, is the thing that would've worked' risk free takesWould not read too much into that, Branthwaite isn't getting called up for England because he's hardly played this season. Do you think if O'Brien was playing regularly for Everton he would not be called up for Ireland ? Simply if you don't play for you're club you very rarely get selected for you're Country.

Not trying to be smart but do you have a source for that? Mightve missed it from one of the journoshim and thellwell
don’t agree on this signing

I can understand giving players who come in at 18 or 19 years old a game here or there during a season and having them on the bench so the can gain experience as a sub when the chance to bring them on arrives, but O`Brien and Jarrod are in their early twenties and have enough senior experience to at least be getting game time alongside Tarks. O`Brien has had a full season in France with Lyon which lead to him getting a senior call up.He earned 3 caps just before he signed after playing a lot for Lyon, my main take is it’s not a good look for young aspiring players. Come to Everton and watch your international careers grind to a halt.
But its a load of BS from Dyche (As most stuff that comes out of his mouth seems to be) he has stated on more than one occasion that he has equal input into signings. That's not to defend Thelwell in any way as id be happy to see the back of both of them.…I’m getting hints from him that he doesn’t agree on many Thelwell signings. I posted this;

Coleman’s not exactly been racking up the minutes here but they seem happy to call him up? As you allude to yourself, the level isn’t that high, it’s not the same as England where a lack of minutes at your club almost precludes you from being called up, you’d think if he’d really impressed when with the squad before that he’d still be getting called up to the squad at least even if he’s not played for a month.Which is no surprise given his lack of game time here. Well Coleman has been senior Ireland captain for a number of years and his main alternate as RB (Doherty) has blotted his copybook with the new Irish manager for some reason (some echoes of our own Dyche/Patterson nonsense). So Coleman is a default pick regardless of whether our resident idiot manager is picking Coleman or not.Coleman’s not exactly been racking up the minutes here but they seem happy to call him up? I don’t mean to knock O’Brien, I just think it’s a very similar situation to Patterson actually - not just under dyche but throughout his time here - where people are convincing themselves that there are all sorts of mad reasons for them not playing, when the simplest explanation is probably just that they aren’t necessarily that good (yet). Hopefully that situation will change for both of them.Well Coleman has been senior Ireland captain for a number of years and his main alternate as RB (Doherty) has blotted his copybook with the new Irish manager for some reason (some echoes of our own Dyche/Patterson nonsense). Ireland are not spoilt for choice at CB either but the other lads getting selected are at least getting regular minutes at club level, granted it’s a level down from the PL in most cases.
