Think he's a good player but we need an enforcer/hard man as well. Don't know if Barry is exactly that and while Fellainis greatest strengths weren't necessarily in the defensive midfield role McCarthy isn't a straight swop for his attributes in midfield IMO

that is correct.. Fellaini is awesome at controlling the high balls and getting them played further within our team. Today we do not have that kind of man to control loose balls and play them so it favours us.

Mccarthy/Barry/Gibson is not the perfect midfield.. Mccarthy/ either of gibosn and barry along with a player like Fellaini would be perfect.

Mccarthy/Barry/Gibson is not the perfect midfield.. Mccarthy/ either of gibosn and barry along with a player like Fellaini would be perfect.

Full of creativity and attacking verve that midfield.

Will Hughes from Derby County is the kind of player we should be looking at. I don't see the need for a midfield enforcer in the system we play. McCarthy looks like he can be a special player for us. A midfield diamond of McCarthy-Hughes-Barkley would be insane.

Not really made up my mind on the right partner of mccarthy though:

Barkley/mccarthy/gibson/hughes/lundstram would give us 5 young players all with different attributes which is ideal in a squad system with a tactical manager.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think hes going to be a vital player for us to be honest. He seems good at sitting and playing short passes in possession but without the ball he seems rash in a tackle. Jury still out on him for me. Early days though!

He costs money, money that we don't have for him.
