James McCarthy

In all fairness if you're a side that's used to playing in the latter stages of the CL and going toe to toe with the likes of Madrid you do need to look for a bit more than mcCarthy has. The ability to score goals and create things is important at that level. Look at the likes of Busquets and Alonso. Both can pass the ball superbly.

Even Keane, the player people like to compare him to, scored lots of goals and could get forward well as a younger player.

I genuinely believe McCarthy is our one player that any team in the world would would not have a problem having, let alone United.

I don't think any would turn down John Stones are their third choice CB either, to be honest.

And I'm hard pressed to think of anyone that would turn down our fullbacks. Get your point though.

Bayern would, which is why I left them out.

You say that but for the last 4-5 seasons they've tried to play Cleverley, Fletcher, Jones and Fellaini in there next to Carrick (their Barry) as an industrious all action metronome/sweeperupper and all have failed (Fletcher coming closest before his illness). McCarthy would have fit in perfectly under Fergie and yes, even last year under Moyes, but it remains to be seen what sort of system/shape/style Van Gaal is going to play.

IMO McCarthy WILL be world class, I don't think he is now but in 3 or 4 years time, if he chips in with the odd goal, I reckon he'd get in anyone's side.

Plus he's ginger and beautiful so that automatically puts him above most!

That pissed me off before. They keep going on about "United quality".
To be fair there are a quite a number on here who have a view on who is good enough to play for us and who isn't.
None of which usually bears any relation to reality and is usually based on either some random imagined atrocity the player committed against us years ago or his hairstyle/shade of spray-on tan.

I'd rather other fans didn't rate our best players. McCarthy goes under the radar because he's so unspectacular in the way he goes about his bossness.

Most Everton fans reacted the same way when we were linked with him. Just the way it goes with a player of his sort.

Most of us were saying the same stuff last Summer when McCarthy came from Wigan. Not the United bit, like.
I think most of us are measured enough to think a player integral to a team that has beaten us twice and finished a fair margin ahead of us would most likely be at least a good squad player. Plus the fact they were using the "United quality" thing like a bloody brand irked me somewhat. Maybe I'm just too irritable today.
