There is no denying McCarthy’s determination to do well this season. What cannot be determined is whether he will still be an Everton player by the time the transfer window closes.

Stuff like this annoys the hell out of me.

It's annoying, but always a sign that a player is performing above the media's expectations
Especially when it's a London paper, trying to work a Tottenham angle to please it's readership.

I hate when players say "We'll see what happens" about a transfer to another club. We have only just signed him and now he is flirting with another club, if what he says is true that Spurs didn't stump up the money that we did then he should be grateful that we didn't let him stay in the Championship and his career could have took a very different route.

My contract negotiations with McCarthy would go like this:

I'd pass him a contract with all the relevant signatures on and everything filled in, apart from his signature and his wages. I'd let him fill both those in himself, no questions asked.

When I ask, McCarthy about the speculation he says: “If a club like Manchester United are interested, obviously you are doing a good job.” Then with a laugh he adds: “We will see what happens.”

absolutely nothing to worry about here, Martinez and McCarthy come as a package in my eyes, never struck me as a kid that does get his head turned by links to other clubs. Turned down pool because he said he wasn't ready at 16, not many would do that.

Journos are just getting bored now that all our players seem settled. The sooner Ross signs a new contract they will move on to Stones. This speculation is annoying but comes with the territory when you have a chairman that probably looks for supersaver train tickets to lime street.

That really is the kind of stuff which really annoys me (polite words) and from the London Evening Standard (WTF) what has an Everton player and the Manure got to do with them? Is the journo an undercover scout for the Manure? The article smacks to me of tapping up! Do not recall seeing anything any where else with such a story. It may be as some say a nothing story but it is still in print and out there.
