"Roy Keane is concerned that Everton are exerting ‘pressure’ on their Irish players around Republic of Ireland games and feels a ‘clear the air’ summit with manager Roberto Martinez is required. The Irish No 2 acknowledges Martinez has a duty to his club but feels ‘balance’ is needed regarding the international availability of James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Darron Gibson for the remainder of the Euro 2016 campaign.

McCarthy has missed the last three Euro 2016 qualifiers, including Friday’s 1-0 loss to Scotland, but is expected to be fit for Everton’s game against West Ham on Saturday. It follows the events of last month where McCarthy and Coleman both played for their club, only four days after missing the Euro qualifier against world champions Germany."

James being fit for West Ham would be excellent news if true.

And for all Keane's moaning about the Germany game, both mcCarthy and coleman had missed several games for us in the runup to the Germany game, Man utd being the most obvious example, so it wasn't as if they were faking injury. They have both had niggling injuries all season.

......perhaps RM needs to remind Kean that we lost Gibson for a year following an injury incurred whilst playing for Ireland. I recall young Duffy getting a life threatening injury whilst playing for Ireland U21s so I think EFC is in 'credit' when it comes to our commitment to the Republic.

WhoScored.com have got our James as the 4th best defensive midfielder in the Prem so far this season, and the difference between him and the top 3 doesn't look statistically significant. Pretty impressive considering he looked a little out of form early on.

The only thing i can say is that Roy Keane has a point about clubs pressuring players to pull out of international friendlies etc, only problem is he has picked a club that has never to my knowledge done such a thing, didnt hear you spouting drivel when Gibbo got injured for about a year did we Keano ?

Not back in training yet, be very suprised if he plays Saturday then. Will be the Spurs game I'd imagine.

Both him and Mirallas to return at WHL!

What about Barry? How many games?

just looked on the physio room .com and it looks like gibbo is out also and jags needs a late test.
They have kev and james mc carthy as being down to play against west ham but then they put doubtful next to them ???

...suspect Mirallas will be introduced from the bench but perhaps not on Saturday. Hammy's are precarious, seem ok and get through a game but then they pop next time.

We clearly need to offload that lazy mick and get Jedinak in.

James McCarthy is great. Roy Keane is a bell. As was mentioned, he joined up with the squad and was assessed by the medical team who then sent him back.

Isn't that the point though? Their medical staff said they couldn't see any problem, but James kept telling them of a discomfort. It was then decided that they should send him home to be on the safe side.
From the ROI side they only have the players word he's feeling discomfort. I imagine Keane knows this is exactly the sort of 'injury' that a player can or would fake to get sent back, he perhaps just doesn't believe James and thinks the Bobby has put him up to it to get him a weeks rest.

It doesn't matter in a way if the injury is real or not, it's down to the perception brought about by his past withdrawals and the trust between James and the ROI management
