I just think some people are utterly paranoid about Wigan, and are paying far too much attention to deluded Kopites attempting to take the proverbial. Some people need to grow a thicker skin and look at things a bit more logically without having preconceived notions.

It's nothing to do with the club he came from, it's the player himself.

is right mate
wtf do we care what rs think. he is everton player now.

Its was proven here the season before last, that why most of us were fuming that Moyes chose to play him behind the striker for most of last season even tho Moyes said he was the best midfielder in the Premiership.

Very true mate.

I'm just struggling to comprehend how anybody who has watched us over the course of the last 24 months could disagree TBH.

so whats the problem with McC?

Im happy thats he's here, young, proven, full of potential, fair price. wtf are peeps whining about

5 reasons come to mind mate why people are whining

1. Its a way of having a dig at martinez compared to moyes
2. Cos he was in a relegated side he must theirfore be gash, forgetting the fact half our best players over the past 6-7 years came to us this way, Lescott, Cahill (never managed to get promoted even) Jags (relegated as captain) etc
3. Because he isn't as good as fellaini, forgetting the fact that he's been bought for less than we originally bought felli for and also forgetting the fact we only used half or less the felli money we just got to bring him in
4. because people like to call him a crab as he passes sideways a lot, forgetting the fact you can only pass if someones available to recieve it like
5. Biggest one is that his name isnt Diego McCarthy, or Santi McCarthy etc, if he was spanish, argie etc a lot would be happier sadly

He still isn't the perfect player tho, my problem with him, he can be hot and cold, his brain and body is not fast enough, his elbows were also annoying.

That entire post is utter nonsense. People have given reasons repeatedly why they're concerned about the lad; attempting to laugh them off in such a way is disrespectful of other valid views.

If you want to tell us all exactly why the lad is good, please do so, but sod off with the stupid lists.

Hot and cold yes to an extent. Won't get away with that at United though, come the end of January I imagine they'll have enough world class cover in CM to bomb him if he becomes erratic. He's clearly world class in patches, but these patches have become more and more frequent. Will have to take it to the next level at United though.

Elbows yes.

Brain and body too slow I'm unsure on. Dropping in deep to receive he looks like he's on auto-pilot he makes it look so easy at times.

Mate can search through the threads an peoples views on McCarthy or transfer targets in general and every one of those points has been raised on a few times

My opinion on why McCarthy is good then, at 22 years of age he has a lot of prem experience under his belt, he apparently has a great work ethic and desire to self improve from all accounts which is often missing from younger players who break into the first team early, technically he's already very very good, has good control and first touch and play at a faster tempo than our current lot have got used to atm, hes also from a defensive standpoint very good at getting in position and intercepting (bit like gibbo in that way) hes got decent pace and looks to bring others into the game.

Negatives, he isnt the most consitant which at that age is to be expected a little, he needs to work on the incisive ball a lot more, and he needs to get a bit more bite or arrogance /aggression about his game to become a truly top midfielder

ffs why cant everyone accept that this extremely average player was brought in not because of his ability level but because RM wants his own people at the club. Yes, its Joe Allen all over again, but I wont hold it against Bobby provided he gets the best from Gerard and Barkley this season.

You are asking people to accept your point of view as gospel though. People are allowed different views on this, of course, but telling people what they should think doesn't usually go well.
Personally think the lad has been brought in to get the system to work. He has the ability to grow and get better but he is a player I think who relies on players around him for his game to work.

key words right there

Him and Gibson/Barry are going to be such an upgrade on Osman and Fellaini. I include Fellaini in that because although he is a top, top player, he simply isn't suited to Martinez's plans, his strengths are not what Martinez particularly looks for in that position. That's not saying McCarthy is a better player, but he is a better player for that system, I believe. At least given time he will be.

I'm hoping him and Gibson can strike up a good 'ol Irish understanding, they could be our CM pairing for the next 7+ years providing Gibson stops getting pissed every weekend.

Which other young Brittish midfielder would those writing McCarthy off have bought at the same price - one which is clearly better of course - if you can't find a Brittish one any other better 22 year old will do ?
