I don't even get what's happening in here anymore.

We've paid the money (probably). He's an Everton player.

Just get behind him now.

I'm not sure what else needs saying.

You could drop down to League Two and find really high percentage stats for players but it doesn't mean anything when you compare it to a Premier League counterpart.

The stats are based on McCarthy in the Prem League. They're also more pertinent because the manager that he played for when he achieved those stats now manages us and will have us using the same system now.

Therefore its an indication of what we can expect him to be doing for us.

Clearly? Really? Based on what, his performances at a much less talented and ultimately relegated Wigan squad at this level? There's nothing clear about what McCarthy can and cannot do for Everton; the proof will be when he takes to the pitch.

And equally, dismissing him as rubbish, just because he came from Wigan, is also pointless.

If you're an experienced football fan, who pays attention to other clubs and other players, you'll know McCarthy has a lot of potential (he's only 22 and has already played 140 odd Prem games!), who other teams were interested in, which is an indication he's actually quite decent.

Joining the 'you signed 4 players from Wigan, they're all automatically rubbish hahaha' club just makes a person look silly.

That's like saying "Croxteth's two best chippies". It means nothing whatsoever. I don't care what side they played for, couldn't give a toss really - what I care about is whether the player can play at the standard expected at Everton.

Re: that "scout report", it's comparing chalk and cheese. Osman/Gibson played in a completely different system/team to McCarthy. You could drop down to League Two and find really high percentage stats for players but it doesn't mean anything when you compare it to a Premier League counterpart.

Take this gem from that "scout report" for example:

Jesus, if you don't like him, you don't like him.

Folk saying Fellaini is/was one of Europe's top midfielders seem to conveniently forget that when he was clearly on the 'for sale' rack this entire summer only his former manager came in for him. By definition therefore he was not sought after by the top clubs at all.

I had a huge amount of time for Fellaini whilst he was at our club but he's gone now. I think it is also quite possible Martinez didn't seem him in his plans anyways.

We sold him for a decent price and now have Super Mac. Game on.

You could say the same for Ozil as well, or McCarthy as well.

Seen this a lot. But it's a lie.

Show me one Evertonian who doesn't want him to be completely boss for us. I bet you can't.

It makes no sense to want an Everton player to fail. I was his biggest critic on here, but he's our player now and gets every inch of my support.

Read the frigging threads....tell me they're all a) pleased we've signed him, b) reckon he'll come good....there's plenty, you included, who in the run up to him signing ( and several have continued) who refused to accept that he's got any qualities whatsoever. RM rates him, as do a lot of people professionally involved in game. Wasn't he the butt of your satire in your sig previously? I'm not suggesting he's the new Roy Keane either - just saying that the lad should be given a chance ffs.
I'm simply saying assess him when he's played a run of games for Everton.

5 reasons come to mind mate why people are whining

1. Its a way of having a dig at martinez compared to moyes
2. Cos he was in a relegated side he must theirfore be gash, forgetting the fact half our best players over the past 6-7 years came to us this way, Lescott, Cahill (never managed to get promoted even) Jags (relegated as captain) etc
3. Because he isn't as good as fellaini, forgetting the fact that he's been bought for less than we originally bought felli for and also forgetting the fact we only used half or less the felli money we just got to bring him in
4. because people like to call him a crab as he passes sideways a lot, forgetting the fact you can only pass if someones available to recieve it like
5. Biggest one is that his name isnt Diego McCarthy, or Santi McCarthy etc, if he was spanish, argie etc a lot would be happier sadly

Utter pony that

The beauty of Felli is his versatility, but he is a DM. I've previously posted his 2009/10, 2010/11 stats when he played there and they are world class, best in the league by some way.

How ridiculous that you pick out the 1st Norwich goal. If you watch the goal again you'll notice just how lucky Whitaker got. He actually tries to pass the ball wide, hits Baines and only for the rebound to go straight back to him. This causes everyone to misjudge the play and it catches out Felli! Total fluke. You can see Baines throw his head back cause its so jammy!

He was only just starting to re familiarise himself with the role and was still nowhere near his best... it was coming. Anyway enough about him, he is gone.

McCarthy is only 22 and will improve. Lets be patience. The one thing we can all agree on is the kid is cultured and has an engine - not a bad combination.

Not just in the first 4 games but also in pre-seaon, apart from lacking a cut edge in front of goal, we transition from defence to attack way too slowly. McCarthy will improve this as he is much quicker on the ball then a Felli, Osman, Gibson, Barry or Heitinga.

Ideally, we bring in a midfielder come Jan with more creativity, as we continue to phase out the old guard.

No GF, he cost £13M and came from Wigan. Anyone who knows anything about football can see that makes him badly gash.
McCarthy out.
