Are there no Lee Carsleys around these days, some one who can play the ball chasing holding MF role and only cost us half a million as a replacement for McCarthy should we wish to cash in on him?
Inflation. We bought him last season and he cost 4m.

I'd be a bit worried if it was anyone but Spurs, but I can't imagine why the player himself would bother to want a move there. United is a different thing entirely.

Either way, it's £25m+ to even entertain a discussion on him you'd think, probably closer to £30m.

I know that every player has their price, but I believe in all honesty that if you think McCarthy might be leaving Everton this summer then you are a bit of a blert.

A player Martinez would not sell as others have said and others would be sacrificed before him.

Well selling McCarthy ruins our best chant.

First we stop loaning players, then we sell Jimmy Mac......can we just not catch a break with our new chants!!!

He's too important to our team for us to sell him to spurs, can see him going there if we were to accept a offer of £25m plus but they wont

Thing is, I can't even see that. Are Spurs really much of a step up from us? They finished higher than us last season due to us having a poor season. We finished above them the season before. Both similar sized clubs yet it's a lot harder to become a regular starter at Spurs and he's much more likely to be on the bench more often.

A Man United is a bit different but I just don't see Spurs as an attractive proposition for a player like McCarthy. Spurs are rarely in the CL, don't win things and have a similar sized ground to us. It's not a step up.

It's funny really as I see a lot of fans of other clubs saying the same things about him that I used too when he was at Wigan. He is a bit one paced, not creative a bit of a crab etc. I couldn't have been more wrong about him.

He is one of those players that you only really appreciate when he plays for your team. Our record with him is far better than our record without him. I think this is in part down to him doing things that are hidden unless you watch him closely and partly down to him being able to lift the performance of those around him.

The amount of ground he covers, tackles he makes etc allows for other players in midfield to prosper. He's an old fashioned box to box English midfielder. We would be very silly to sell him.

Spurs can neither attract or afford him. If he goes then it'll be one of the supposed bigger teams..and for a shedload of pennies

He's also one of those players that looks far better/more important live than on TV.
