Liverpool and Spurs haven't found anyone as good they've spent much more.

Debatable mate. I don't want to big that lot up, but they have two creative midfielders that I would love at Everton, and would probably have over McCarthy, both are from Brazil, one was very expensive, the other not so much.

I rate McCarthy but I think our fans overrate him, and I also think we have a surplus of players that do a very similar job to him whilst we have no creativity whatsoever. I would much rather keep McCarthy and add a creative player as his midfield partner. It's not going to happen though, and if someone wants to pay stupid money for McCarthy then I say let them do it, especially if it then allows us to add creativity to our play.

Why do you like to take digs at McCarthy? He's blatantly one of our best players.

I just think he is overrated and that we could get a better CM for cheaper money. People will argue that's impossible but they said the same with Fellaini. People are now saying McCarthy is a better CM than Fellaini, and don't we have Besic to do the job McCarthy does?

I think you are right that we seem to have a goodly number of DMs.

Someone told me that we're in negotiations with McCarthy & his agent right now and that a new contract could be agreed before the start of the season. McCarthy loves it at Everton, him and girlfriend are also settled in the north west. He just wants parity with some of the newer deals signed at the club, he doesn't even want to be the top earner. The club didn't open negotiations for a long time because there was/is no need to; the player is (mostly) happy, plus negotiations would only be triggered once McCarthy played a set number of games, believed to be 60.

Besic isn't consistent or mature enough to lace McCarthy's boots yet. Not saying he can't be as good or better but he's nowhere near ready to replace McCarthy.

The DMs are McC, Barry, Gibson, Besic, Cleverly and Barkley plus one or two young players coming through.

looks like Barry and Gibson could be intheir last season so problem could be solved.

OMG, they're actually doing that? That's horrific. All the kopites I know are snarking him a bit but they've never been racist or said horrible things about his family.

You must not have been following events at LFC very closely circa 2011 if you're actually surprised by this.

OT: The McCarthy song is a bit terrible.
