James McCarthy

:coffee:

Robles is quite possibly our best keeper since big nev and Mori is our best CB and statistically our 3rd best player this year

Kone is the black Jesus

I'm sorry friend, it's all just been painfully realised as I rightly anticipated about two months before El Fraudo joined us.

McCarthy the faulty joint upon which this misfunctioning side pivots.

I think we can now safely chalk McCarthy up as (yet another) of El Fraudo's poor signings, alongside Kone, Cleverley, Naisse, Alcaraz, Robles and Funes Mori.

It's a roll call of dishonour now.

....might be worth considering that statement from a financial perspective. I would anticipate we'd get more for McCarthy, Cleverley and Funes Mori than we paid. I think it's too early and unfair to judge Niasse.

This is exactly what I'm driving at @Eggs , a full cleanse while these talent and form haemorrhaging assets still have some value.

Means the new manager can come in with resources and a clean slate, untainted by the current incumbent's failures

....I have to say I think Mori has been a good piece of business and wouldn't him moving on. Similarly, i suspect any new manager would also welcome having James McCarthy to call upon. Like others, I think Martinez is under the closest of scrutiny and worthy of criticism but I think he's been OK assembling the squad.

Besic is one spot on what evidence had about 3 good games?? barry has been better albeit to old need a new cm i agree but mccarthy cant fall from grace this bad id hope he can recapture his form!

Ignoring his horror show against Arsenal when I don't think he was fit or ready to play I think he's looked more than capable. Given an extended run he'll be grand!

Hes supposed to be our 'proper' midfielder

And Barrys been our best player with Rom, hes not the problem, Mccarthys just overrated

Barry may well be the best player 'in this system' but it doesnt get the best out of others who need to compensate for his weaknesses.

Which players would you actually want to keep?

What an excellent question Zatty

Baines
Coleman
Jagielka
Stones
Barry
Besic
Barkley
Super Super Super Kev
Lukaku
Lennon
Del
Browning
Galloway
Oviedo

Throw in a decent goalkeeper and the foundations of a decent squad are there. Spend loads on an ace goalkeeper, a new left mid, and a midfielder that does stuff unlike McCarthy without turning pink, a decent second striker and a top manager to guide it and we are on the march.

It doesnt look very promising does it?

It does Zat, the manager changing is almost guaranteed, and all we'd need is four new players and the ousting of the other rot.

Come over to the happy, positive side that is the post-Martinez era.

No I didn't friend.

Another player who was utter plop when he moved, a bit like Phil Neville and Tom Cleverley - standing on the shoulders of giants.
