Apart from stopping that counter near the end, he did absolutely nothing. GET RID.
He caused the counter at the end with a terrible chip cross straight to their goalie.

Said he was average from the very beginning, was massively overhyped by our fans. He's always looked very limited in possession of the ball, every team needs a grinder though... id just rather have one who can play football as well.
being brutally honest he has not improved one single bit since we signed him, all the areas he needed to work on such as his passing etc remain poor/average. even his grinding is underwhelming nowadays, i remember people saying he was the next keane... he's so far off keane it's not even funny.

Same time if we drop him who is going to throw in a tackle ? Can not understand the dislike for him, he is one of the few in the team to show aggression, okay he is limited, playing poorly at times, but tell me who isn't at the moment.

I would like McCarthy and Besic midfield axis tbh, now that midfield would have bite. Add two wingers who both stay wide and Barkley behind Lukaku.

You know i wanted to like McCarthy, jesus in that first season he didnt stop he was pressing and pressuring.
Now he does very little pressure or pressing - i remember one game in his first season when the other team had the ball with the centre backs and he burst through the midfield and put pressure on both of them while the rest of the team watched. That was who i wanted to carry on. Unfortunately he has been relatively gash - i know we statistically play better with him in the team, but he doesn't offer too much besides a decent engine - and even he looks battered after 70 mins.
Was the spurs move in the summer a distraction? who knows... but he has been poor.
