The lad should be a squad player but he's not and that's not down to him. We all think this team is better than its performing but the truth is that there are a number of positions where we don't have, as Merson would say, top top quality. CM is one such position.

Would keep him as an option every day of the week same goes for Clev who I think is a much superior player.

He wouldn't get in spurs reserves never mind the first team

He's a Martinez man. Doesn't need to do much to get a game.
Goes back to the no accountability from top to bottom to the squad. Mr Moshiri is our only hope there.

Completely agree - just wonder if that has had an effect on him. His only real ability is a good engine, and even thats stalled! He doesn't create an awful lot, scores once or twice a season, just don't see what else he offers at the moment
 
So one game made your mind up then ? Thought everyone played crap that day mate not just Besic and McCarthy.Think it might be worth a gamble myself, nothing to lose in the league is there.But to each his own opinion.

Barrys been our best so stupid to drop him, mccarthy cant play barrys role and besic is wasted there, they can't play together
 

Good for you fella, I was talking about one performance against Arsenal were Besic and McCarthy played together badly one swallow doesn't make a summer. Or where you referring to another post ?
 
McCarthy hasn't been as good this season as in the last two years. Its feasible his injuries have had a bearing on things. He seems to be just running around this season and his first movement is virtually always backwards or sideways. Barry, despite his age and suspensions, is still ahead of him in my book. He passes it forward more too. I'd 'rest' him for a few games but I don't expect RM to do it anytime soon.

Mccarthy was crap last year, this season isnt a 1 off

Bit harsh to use that as a guideline as to how it would go when Besic was coming back from ages out injured.

Given we have a number of games left and not all matter I would like to see it tried again but only if both are fully fit.

Theyre so disjointed together, it should be besic and barry
