He is also more disciplined to be fair.

I dont think him and Besic are similar players though. I think Besic is wasted as a deep midfield destroyer.

Runs around like a headless chicken far more, and gets out of position due to this.
Less injury prone at the moment, but has still missed a fair share of games.
Aside from that, absolutely nothing.

McCarthy, plenty of running but doesn't offer much quality. Besic offers a lot more to the team than McCarthy

Funny thing to me is that when McCarthy first came, his engine was unreal. Never stopped, closed down opposition, took the ball and passed it to a more capable ball player, then ran for a return or to cover. Then he'd run off at half time, back on to start, then again at FT, then run home.

Now he, like the entire team look dead on their arse after 75 mins. Will be interesting to see what will happen to Lennon after a sustained period with the squad. Will his mileage decrease?

Or, as has happened before, am I just completely imagining it.

He does one thing and he does it very very well.

I don't think he's that different to when he first came here. I still think he's one of the best I've seen as sniffing out danger.

It's all about balance in my opinion. With two defensive mids against all opposition, fullbacks bombing with no cover, the striker being isolated etc we have no balance at all. I don't think he's going to push on and add goals to his game or suddenly become David Silva. But he will always be a great destroyer type. Alas we're doing most of the destruction to ourselves these days.

Type of player he is you really need them to be consistant almost every game - not when he can be arsed showing up

First season he showed when he had something to prove that he can be a very good player, sicne then he has taken his foot off the gas and when he does that he looks bog average 3 out of every 4 games

That type of 'reid' type midfielder if you don't get consistancy from them then they are a watse of space - all the best ones had that right now i'd list Carsley as significantly better for us during their respective time at the club

haha lighten up will you. I am a fan of his but found it baffling to start championing him for a start after one of the worst first half showings I have seen this season.
